3 Stars Fun, but….
We love to play Wii Play Tennis, so we figured this would be even better. The fact is, there’s just too much going on on the screen. It’s very hard to see where the ball is. Fun, but frustrating.

5 Stars Mario Power Tennis !!!
I bought this for my 4 yr. old son who got a WII from Santa ;) . He loves it and is kickin my bu** at it lol . Very fun game , new play control is terrific . Fun game for everyone in the family !

5 Stars get ready for a good pain
play with friend fun the whole time, just be sure not to be too close to your friend or he will have a headache thanks to you.

1 Star The Controls just Fail…
The controls failed, what else is there to say? They don’t work, and the game hasn’t had any other upgrades from Gamecube, no new graphics, sounds, or modes.

Presentation- 28/100

The fact that nothing is new from the moment you start the game ruins it. You can’t get hooked on the game, that’s for sure.

Graphics- 48/100

Unimpressive on Wii (They looked good on Gamecube though).

Sound- 64.5/100

Gameplay- 8.5/100

Yes, it purposely says 8.5/100, it is not 85/100. On Gamecube, it was a masterpiece. Now it’s been completely ruined by difficult to learn, unresponsive controls. These in fact, may be the worst controls I’ve ever seen.

Replay Value- 9/100

Virtually none.

Overall- 16/100

The Gamecube version scored 92/100.

4 Stars Great Party Game!
This game is a lot of fun! … especially when hosting a small get together. Though Wii is known for it’s game control being one of its main pros, I will say that I was a little disappointed with the controls for this game. In fact, I prefer this playing game on the Nintendo 64. Aside from that though, the game itself is still great and easy for anyone to pick up pretty quickly (even for those who don’t play video games much, like myself).

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

March 15th, 2010

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Based on the 2009 summer movie blockbuster of the same name, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince transports fans both old and new to the beloved and action-filled video game universe of Harry Potter. In this most recent adventure players return to the famous Hogwarts school for wizards, as well as other surrounding parts of the wizarding world, to help Harry survive a difficult and danger filled sixth year.

The Story
In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince the Video Game, Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was assumed to be. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information.

Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different, but equally unavoidable adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn’t counted on Romilda Vane’s chocolates. And then there’s Hermione, simmering with jealously, but determined not to show her feelings. Yet as romance blossoms throughout Hogwarts, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

Gameplay
Like earlier video game releases in the Harry Potter franchise, the action in Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince the Video Game revolves around the exploration of Hogwarts and the action that results from what you uncover. The game features both engrossing single player and local multiplayer modes, as well as additional unique play features. During their adventures, players will have a chance to engage in exciting wizard duels, mix and brew magical ingredients in potions class and take to the air to lead the Gryffindor Quidditch team to victory. Players may even get sidetracked by Ron’s romantic entanglements as they journey towards a dramatic climax and discover the identity of the Half-Blood Prince.

Key Features

  • Relive the action of the movie…from the Hogwarts Express, to the dramatic revelation of the Half-Blood Prince.
  • Feel the thrill of Quidditch as the Wii Remote and Nunchuck become your broomstick and you speed through the stadium.
  • Compete for Gryffindor for the Hogwarts Quidditch Cup: Take on Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin in the most exciting wizarding sport.
  • Defeat the Dark Forces as you use the Wii Remote as your wand to duel your way through the story of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
  • Perfect your potion-mixing skills using the Wii Remote to stir, shake and pour potions from the Half-Blood Prince’s recipes.
  • Explore Hogwarts at night, taking on nighttime missions while the castle sleeps.
  • When you get stuck, call on Nearly Headless Nick for clues and tips to help you complete your challenges.
  • See more of the wizarding world as you explore new magical places scattered throughout the game.
  • Travel with Dumbledore to piece together Voldermort’s past, and sneak around Hogwarts to discover Malfoy’s secrets.
  • 2-player local multiplayer support.

4 Stars Could be Better but not too bad for younger kids
My 9 year-old little brother saw the commercial for this game and really wanted it. I bought it for him for his birthday despite the bad reviews and he loved it. This was our first HP game so we can’t really compare it to other HP games. We loved the potions and the dueling. Quidditch was not as good as expected. Like what one of the other reviewers said, basically Harry Potter flies by himself. Also as another person pointed out, we finished the whole story mode in one day which was sort of lame but at least we still had to find all the crests and stuff.

Pros:

-Exploring Hogwarts

-Potions

-Dueling

-Good for little HP obsessed kids lol

Cons or improvements I wish to see:

-I wish it was more like sims…in other words, more interaction. I wish HP could like sit on the seats, talk to more people and stuff.

-The Story mode needs to be LONGER and more detailed. I did find the mis-quotes and other story mistakes rather annoying. Like sometimes HP will say what Ron said in the movie. Also I wish I could like sit down in the grand hall and dig into all the yummy food and stuff: more interaction.

-More Spells and charms

I gave it a good rating because my brother loved it

4 Stars Interactive Games
Great fun to mix potions, cast spells, fly around the Quidish Field!

If you love Harry and have Wii this game beats all the computer games by a mile! Great fun!Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

5 Stars HP & Half Blood Prince Wii
My son LOVES this game. He says it is much better than the other H.P. games he has played. It makes you feel as though you are truly part of the game. Would recommend to any H.P. fan.

5 Stars My grandson loves it!
I purchased this for my grandson’s birthday (age 11), after consulting with his dad about what he already had, wanted, or was allowed to have. Harry Potter was at the top of the list. He has a Wii, and does video games more with the TV than the computer.

4 Stars enjoyable for my daughter
I bought this game for my 9yr old daughter and she loves battling Bellatrix and the death eaters in dueling matches. She also enjoys making potions and Quidditch. But I do find the game a little boring when playing by myself. But when we take turns it’s a blast to play.

Wii Rock Band 2 Standalone Guitar

March 15th, 2010

Wii Rock Band 2 Standalone Guitar

Get an unparalleled, deeper, dynamic gameplay experience with this Rock Band 2 Wireless Guitar. The Guitar is sturdier, with a more precise strum bar, a built-in sensor allowing quick and seamless calibration, a retooled tilt sensor for improved Overdrive employment, a more realistic neck and body design, and quieter buttons.

Quieter buttons

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Great fun for the whole family
We have 4 boys, so the second guitar was a must have. All the kids (even our 4 year old) enjoy getting into the act.

5 Stars Rock Band 2 guitar vs. Rock Band guitar
We bought the Wii Rock Band. It came with drum set (with el cheapo wooden drum sticks for the decent and functional, cymbal-less drum set) and the Rock Band 1 black and white, small plastic guitar.

Then we got the Rock Band 2 guitar.

Both Rock Band 1 and 2 guitars work well, though the Rock Band 1 guitar got tired of me strumming from low2up and the strum bar would only work up2low.

The RB2 guitar is much prettier with the fake wood grain paneling. The RB2 guitar is nice in giving a small feedback ‘click’ when pressing on the different colored tone bars on the neck of the guitar.

I use both guitars and have come to have no real preference however. As an adult RB1 and RB2 are about the only Wii games I will play, having little liking for the Wii controllers (I much prefer the Nintendo GameCube type controllers).

I only wish more songs were available, more easily for RB1 and RB2.

And that an adult sized RB1/2 wireless guitar was available from Nintendo. From Nintendo as I’ve found in general to avoid 3rd party controllers, particularly the ones that sell for less than the Nintendo units.

5 Stars Does what I wanted
I purchased this to add a second guitar to my RB2 kit and ‘complete my band’. It meets my expectations perfectly. Syncs fine, easy to play, looks good, sturdy and reactive.

I have had it for 4 months and not noticed any problems with accidental overdrive or failure to go into overdrive (with the exception of human error!). The feel is slightly different to the standard guitar but just different, rather than better or worse.

If you need a second guitar, it’s a great product. If you’re looking for an ‘upgrade’, I wouldn’t bother.

1 Star Buy the additional warranty.
This is a great product, but it did not last me much longer than the 60 day warranty. Judging by the sheer volume of posts in the support forum, this did not last many other people much longer than 60 days either. The guitar no longer syncs with the Wii. It is dead and has no blinking lights.

5 Stars Works great! Comparable to my RB1 guitar
I purchased this to have a second guitar for use with Beatles Rock Band and it works great. The auto sync feature worked great for me. Much easier to do than manual. Otherwise this functions exactly like my Rock Band 1 guitar that I’ve been using. Performs exactly as expected. I recommend it.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Awesome.
You will need this for the awesome house of the dead games. It’s awesome, sharp, and cool.

4 Stars Functional, but not indispensible
Had some money to burn and was conflicted on what game I wanted to buy. Started looking at some of the peripherals and finally decided to settle on the Wii Zapper because I figured I’d need it for some other games (in particular first person shooters aka: FPS). I’ve seen the bad reviews that the Zapper has gotten, and I can sympathize, but I did not find them to be particularly problematic to me. First, trigger location. Yes, the trigger is located at the front, but it’s not a big deal. The gun is not geared towards a particular handedness, so you can pull the trigger with whatever hand you feel most comfortable with. Second, wrist strain. I have not experienced this problem, and I’ve shot from several positions (from the hip, at mid-chest and hi-chest level). You CAN forget sighting with this gun by looking down the barrel. There is no reticule on the zapper to make this any more accurate than any other position of holding it. Third, hand size. I guess I don’t have large hands, but they’re not kid sized either. The Zapper fit in my hands quite nicely and I’d say for a majority (not all, but most) of people the Zapper will be comfortable to hold. If you don’t think it’d be for you, I’d suggest the Nyko gun and then simply keep the nunchuck in your non-shooting hand. Link’s Crossbow Training is worth the additional few dollars you’ll spend on the Zapper. If it did not come with the game, I’d have settled on the Nyko gun. As it is, I’ve got the Zapper.

5 Stars Good deal
This product was purchase for my grandson for Christmas. I was totally surprised to see that there was a game also included with the zapper. Thanks for the prompt service.

5 Stars One of THE most fun Wii games there is!
I went to visit my almost 70 year old Aunt last night and we stayed up playing this game until 2am to beat the levels! First thing this morning we then resumed our play for HOURS. This game is absolutely the best Wii game I have played yet!!! I came on here to buy one for my own family!!!! This is a definite MUST have if you like shooting games and in general fun games!!!!

3 Stars Good mindless shooter.
This game is fun for a while but the targets come out at the same place every time….gets predictable. Your trigger finger will get tired though, lots of shooting. The rifle type zapper helps a bit, but often times I find myself using everything but the zapper. The game alone is worth the price….zapper is an added bonus. If you only have a couple controllers, you will need another since the zapper does take a bit to set up. Odd that you use the front trigger to fire as well. Helps to steady your shot, and works well. Recommended for a cheap shooter game.
