User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars THIS IS A MUST HAVE!
PLEASE BUY THIS TITLE FOR YOUR GAMER, LOT’S OF ACTION ONE OF THOSE GREAT GAME’S FOR THE Wii,PLEASE TRUST ME ON THIS ONE.

4 Stars Repetitive.
This game is for true battlers. There is no story, all you do is battle. It’s not like Colloseum or XD,it’s more like Stadium. It can get repetitive, since you’re just battling.

But,it’s still a good game for Pokemon fans. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you own Diamond,Pearl,or Platinum, though.

You can also get some cool Pokemon, like a surfing Pikachu.

4 Stars pokemon battle revolution
i got this games today and here is what i think…

pros:

poketopia awesome

graphics great

cool characters and places to battle

cons:

more strategy than action

trainers not really customizable at first

battles sometimes annoying

takes far too long getting to finals in coluseum mode

3 Stars If you own Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, get it. If you don’t, don’t
It’s sad that to this day, Nintendo has yet to release a quality Pok

Wii Wireless Sensor Bar

March 10th, 2010

Wii Wireless Sensor Bar

Nyko’s Wireless Sensor Bar gives you better Wii Remote functionality without the hassle or mess of any wired connection to the console. The infrared field created by the Wireless Sensor Bar allows for play up to 25 feet away — perfect for larger or wall-mounted TVs. The Wireless Sensor Bar is easy to set up, requiring no software or hardware installation on the Wii. Featuring 30 hours of battery life off 4 AA batteries (included) and a unique power saver mode with audible alarm, the Wireless Sensor Bar is designed for ultimate convenience. Ideal for wall-mounted flat screens Powered by 4 AA batteries (included)

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Does exactly what it says it does
I purchased this wireless sensor bar after deciding to renovate our basement and purchase a LCD TV to mount on the wall. We plan on keeping the Wii and other components about 10′ from where the TV will be, so using the sensor bar that comes with the Wii was out of the question.

I’ve had the product for a little more than a month now and it has worked great. I sometimes forget to turn it on before I sit down on the couch, but that is just my bad memory and no fault of the sensor bar itself. The only minor annoyance I have with the product itself is the extremely bright LED light on the front of the sensor bar, but it isn’t enough to downrank the product. I really appreciate the audible alarm that can be turned on to go off after the sensor bar has been on for one of the preset lengths of operation (1 hr or 2 hrs). This really helps forgetful people such as myself from draining a set of batteries unneccessarily. To top it all off, it comes with the 4 AA batteries that you need so it works right out of the box! I highly recommend it for people in situations where the wired sensor bar is not an option or for those who tend to play further than the range of the wired bar.

5 Stars Not a game, but makes Wii setup much more fun (and aesthetically pleasing)
First off, this sensor bar was not an option for me, it was a requirement. I have a front-projection home theatre set-up with a Mitsubishi 720p projector on an 8-foot screen. The living room is ~24 long (from projector to screen) and 17 wide. Without this sensor, I wouldn’t have been able to have the Wii in the back office with the projector. Now we just turn this baby on and play without having to worry about running a useless, tiny black cord through the living room.

As other reviewers have noticed, all this device does is emit a signal that the Wiimotes then use to translate your motion to the Wii. We have perfect control from anywhere within the living room and parties with Mario Kart are especially fun when you’re 1/4 of the screen is still 4×4 feet!

For the price, this device would be worth the convenience factor alone. The fact that it increases Wiimote range, turns itself off after a timer, and is supremely easy to set up and use (i.e. even my boyfriend could use it and he’s tech-hopeless), this device deserves all 5-stars.

4 Stars Get this.
The Wii sensor bar that comes with the system is garbage and useless so throw it out and get this.

reason being, i find this more precise when using the Wii remote, and better when playing at a distance.

Now the only problem i have is that it takes batteries, and that i gotta get up and hold down the Power button to turn off. Otherwise this is a great accessory.

1 Star No Good for Wall Mounted Flat Screens
I’ve got a wall mounted flat screen. The original sensor bar’s wire is too short to be routed through the wall and still reach (like all my other wires). It’s also mounted high on the wall. SO I NEED the sensor bar to be mounted on the bottom so I can reach the ON/OFF button because it needs to be turned on and off independently of the WII (that kinda sucks). The thing needs 4 AA batteries = it’s too heavy for double sticky tape to hold for very long. And you can’t permanently mount it because the battery access is on the bottom that is up against the TV. I tried several ways to try and keep the thing mounted but ultimately had to DRILL into my TV’s case (underneath) to make holes to run fishing line to hold it from falling off. I’ll be looking for a better solution. So, if you have a flat screen mounted on the wall where you can’t reach the top of the TV to turn this thing on and off … well you’ve been informed and should know what you are in for.

2 Stars Wireless sensor bar for on-the-wall TV
I was so excited to find a wireless sensor bar. We have a TV that hangs on the wall and the wire was distracting. My problem is that the sensor bar does not stick to the underside of the TV. To stick it to the top of the TV takes away much of the ease using the remote. i.e. the “hand” you need to make selections is difficult to bring up. When I used double sided tape to stick it on the bottom of the TV the sensor worked much better but it fell off quickly. BUMMER!

Rhythm Heaven

March 10th, 2010

Rhythm Heaven

Rhythm Heaven is a simple and infectious rhythm game that anyone can play. If you can tap your finger in time to music, you’ll get the hang of Rhythm Heaven in no time! Rhythm Heaven features original music in dozens of rhythm-based minigames. The music, created by legendary Japanese pop-star producer TSUNKU, is addictive and catchy. Even though the controls are simple to grasp, each minigame challenges the player’s grasp of rhythm by throwing in interesting beats and off-beats. Some mini-games involve slapping a man’s arm, flicking animals out of a garden, and zapping spaceships!

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars A Piano Teacher’s Point of View
As soon as I got this, I realized the potential of having music students enhance their rhythm skills through this game, even before they formally learn particular counting patterns in their music studies. Only, this is a uniquely FUN way of learning! I am literally demonstrating it to the families I teach to present it as something to purchase as an asset to their lessons. Of course the kids love me for that! Who’d a thought they would get a DS game because of their piano teacher?!

If you are a music student or the parent of one that struggles with keeping time or using a metronome, this game will install a solid, internal beat inside every gamer, whether they realize it is happening or not. I have passed many mini-games with my eyes closed while purely tuning into the music and the sound cues that are provided as you progress. The key to winning is in the beat! You cannot be successful at this game without “hearing” the songs assigned to each mini-game or without engaging with the music’s rhythm.

The other thing I find myself doing with the taps and flicks is that I am actually “playing” the game as if it were an instrument. The games themselves become part of the music! Every interaction with the game becomes motion creating sound that completes the songs that the games are set to. It is like being a participant in a band, choir, or orchestra. But, because of the literal game you are playing, it is a unique experience.

It can be hilarious as you interact with the characters through the mistakes you make or the successes that allow you to pass each level. I have found myself full-out laughing at some of the antics or creative surprises that are thrown at you along the way.

I own about 50 DS games and this game is definitely in my top five. I recommend it to anyone that loves a challenge, fun, and music. Here’s to Rhythm Heaven 2!

PS: If you are a music student who wants this game, feel free to show this review to your parents or other family members. Glad to help out!! :D

5 Stars Split Decision
I think the game is crap, but it was bought for my girlfriend so her review gets used. She is completely addicted to it. It seems boring and repetitive to me, but it sucks her in and doesn’t let go until the battery dies.

4 Stars very challenging ds game
This is a lot of fun but have yet to pass any of the levels so am very thankful it lets you go on to the next level after you try and pass the previous one so many times. The different rhythm games are unique and not boring to do over and over again.

4 Stars Rhythem Heaven
A little frustrating at first…needs better instructions. But once you get the hang of it, it’s fun.

5 Stars Amazing all around!
This game was an impulse buy but boy is it an awesome game that has consumed me. Its geniusly made and so much fun. Every age group will enjoy this game. Worth every penny!

ExciteBots Trick Racing with Wii Wheel Bundle

March 10th, 2010

ExciteBots Trick Racing with Wii Wheel Bundle

The fourth game in the Excitebike series, and the second on the Wii platform, ExciteBots: Trick Racing is an evolution in the racing genre. Featuring big-air thrills, pick-up-and-play controls, exciting multiplayer action and a dozen funky bot racers in the form of mechanical insects, amphibians, and mammals that transform throughout the race, it isn’t like any other racing game you have played. Jump into the driver’s seat and see the world in ExciteBots: Trick Racing.

Gameplay
In ExciteBots: Trick Racing players race around internationally located tracks in the form of their favorite insect, amphibian or mammal themed bot. Each bot has its own special abilities which will serve players well when they find themselves on the right terrain to take advantage of these. As with pretty much any racing game, a major goal is to complete the course at the highest speed possible, but players are also tasked with performing stunts and participating in mini-games. Players win bonus stars for crossing the finish line sooner, but stunts, style and these mini-games are as important as speed. For example: have you ever wished that you could play poker while racing? Think you can toss a dart or roll a bowling ball while leaving the competition in the dust? ExciteBots provides you with your chance. Stars can be traded for a variety of goodies, like new vehicles, tracks, icons and statues.

Control Schemes
The control scheme of ExciteBots is easy and fun. The game can be played with just a Wii Remote or via the combination of a Wii Remote and a Nintendo Wheel accessory/any third party wheel. The 2 Button on the Wii Remote controller is the gas. The + control pad gives drivers a speed boost. Players turn the Wii Wheel accessory left or right to steer, tilt the Wii Wheel in midair to glide or to adjust pitch for perfect landings, swing the Wii Wheel in circular motions around boost bars to build up speed and press the A Button to activate items or to cash in hands in Poker Mode.

Key Features

  • Special ExciteBots: Trick Racing bundle features included Nintendo Wii Wheel.
  • The game takes the big-air thrills and simple pick-up-and-play controls of ExciteTruck and ramps up the fun with a constant barrage of funky challenges and mini-games performed at blinding speed. Players shoot goals, throw pies and even play poker in the middle of rowdy races around off-road tracks.
  • Having your vehicles drive, walk or fly around the track quickly is one thing, but it’s more important to go around in style. Players earn stars for huge jumps, cool tricks and daring feats at high speed.
  • Six players can race online* via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in both Excite Race and Poker Race modes. If friends can’t join online, players can exchange ghost data via WiiConnect24 and challenge their friends to outdo their most daring tricks.
  • 2-player multiplayer versus mode featuring split screen display is also available for local play.

Special Moves
Just as in ExciteTruck, drivers can hit blocks that morph the terrain before their eyes and create ramps from which players can launch mega-jumps. Players can aim for and swing around boost bars or open presents that unleash a variety of wild items, such as bottle rocket boosts or clacker mouths that chomp on other racers to slow them down.

Mini-Games
Now what about those mini-games. Do you know of any other game that features high-speed robotic racers combined with bowling, poker, clown faces and sandwich making? Didn’t think so, but how do these game work?

  • Soccer: Drive into the soccer ball and attempt to hit it into the goal.
  • Bowling: Drive through the pins and attempt to get a strike.
  • Darts: Line up your bot and let the dart fly. Try to hit bull’s-eye in the distance.
  • Clowns: Hit the clown in the face with a pie by throwing it at just the right angle and speed.
  • Sandwiches: Drive through the ingredients in the proper order to make a delicious sandwich.

*Note that broadband access is required for online play.

5 Stars Just Plain Fun
If you liked the original excite bike you’ll love this one as well, great for kids and adults alike…

5 Stars Amazing! And AMAZING DEAL!
This game is extremely fun, and is one of my top games of the year. Coming from a professional gamer, buy this game if you are looking for the mario kart fun, with amazing speed, and a boost of innovation. I reviewed this game on GR, and gave it a 5/5.

BUY IT NOW! At only 20 dollars with a wheel, it’s a steal, and these should not sit. Buy Buy Buy!

4 Stars Excite Race: Take 2
There is no question about the appeal of racing games on the Nintendo Wii. After the massive success of Mario Kart Wii last year, it has honestly been very difficult to see that if Nintendo can actually top itself again. Well, Nintendo has shown that eagerness again. When the Wii got launched in 2006, one of the introduction titles was Excite Truck. the game did a good job at showing the need for speed onto the Wii. But the game was sadly overlooked in place of other titles like Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and the dynamic Wii Sports, which of course came with the system. Well, Nintendo is going to try the racing series yet again, and this time it is a bit stranger than before.

Excitebots: Trick Racing for the Nintendo Wii, brings in the wild, and honestly a bit weird into the gaming, as you race not cars or trucks, but robotic animals. Yes, robotic animals like Bats, Grasshoppers and Beatles. It might seem akward, but it does bring in a new twist in racing. The gameplay does work as it did before with Excite Truck, the way to score and unlock new races, is to perform outrageous stunts like Ring Jumps, perform tricks, and smash your opponents. The graphics look good, but the gameplay is also interesting. You can control the game like you did before with Excite Truck, by steering the controler like it is a wheel, or you can also use the Wii Wheel, which comes with this package, or if you’ve bought Mario Kart Wii.

There are a few new things here that make the game a bit strange. One of the things includes the extra bonuses you get during the race, are from racing stunts like throwing and scoring in darts, from trying to score a bowling strike, to tossing a pie in the clowns’ face. You can also score stars by performing twirls on hanging bars. This requires a lot of control and especially tight timing. The other new feature is the use to play against other racers online through the Wi-Fi. It makes the games a bit interesting, as you score your way first to the finish line, as you and as many as 5 other racers make your way through tracks around the world from Asia, Africa, and Europe.

While there are a lot of new things here, there sadly is a few faults with the game. The first big disadvantage is the control. It can be very tricky at first, but it takes awhile to get used to. Also, unlike Mario Kart Wii, you cannot use the Gamecube or Wii Classic Controllers either. The game mainly uses the Wii-mote. The second disadvantage is the online gaming. While you can race against other Excitebots online, they could’ve allowed it to allow more than just 6 racers for a match.

You can buy Excitebots: Trick Racing with, or without the Wii Wheel definitely. But, if you haven’t bought Mario Kart Wii, you might want to get the expanded version with the Wii Wheel, for a bit more extreme gameplay. Nevertheless, despite a few faults, Excitebots: Trick Racing definitely brings in a bit of weirdness into gameplay that is sure to knock you off your rockers. If you haven’t yet played Excite Truck, than you’ll definitely want a new spin on what makes the Wii extreme with Excitebots: Trick Racing.

Graphics: B

Sound: B

Control: B 1/2-

Fun & Enjoyment: B- for solo; B 1/2- for multiplayer

Overall: B-

5 Stars Lots of Fun
My 6 year old son and I can’t stop playing this game. Lots of FUN, it’s not your typical racing game, there is so much to do it keeps you on your toes. We can’t recommend this game enough.

P.S. The Bat is our favorite ExciteBot to use
