5 Stars Works Perfect with PS1 Namco Tekken Arcade Stick
The one that Eforcity sells is fully compatible with my original Namco Tekken arcade stick that was for the original Playstation (PS1). The adapter itself works as advertised with no conversion lag with Street Fighter IV (4).

The only downside is you need a PS2 controller with the analog button in order for the arcade stick to work as it should. But this method saves me $70 – $150 bucks on ordering a current gen arcade stick that’s probably not as good as the classic I’m using.

4 Stars cheap and works with PC
I tried this adapter because I was getting fed up with the poor quality of gamepads manufactured for exclusive use with a PC. A friend told me that PS3 controllers are supposed to work well with a PC when plugged in the USB port, and I have a spare PS2 controller from a broken PS2 console, so I took a chance.

It works almost flawlessly. There’s an almost imperceptible delay in my setup. I don’t think I would have noticed it if I hadn’t been looking for it. Other than that, it was immediately recognized by the PC, and everything works like I would expect.

I’m running Ubuntu 9.04, so I can’t speak for the Windows users, but I don’t see any reason Windows wouldn’t also recognize it.

5 Stars This one actually works! Analog control sticks work!
I have 5 PS2 controllers and when I got a PS3, I didn’t see the need to shell out $50 per controller so I can play with friends once in awhile. I ordered these adapters so I could just utilize my old PS2 controllers when friends come over. I use it for NBA 2K8 and FIFA 08 and they work great!

Even though with shipping the total cost is $6, I would recommend getting the one by eforcity here. Thinking that all these simple adapters are created equal, I bought two more at a local video game shop and unfortunately, the analog control sticks don’t work on those (even though the light comes on). So do be careful if you try to buy from another vendor. All I know is… the ones sold by eforcity work.

4 Stars nice product
i was going to buy a second ps3 controller, but saw this adaptor. bought it instead and i must say it works great, just as advertised, saved me a few bucks. (i have a ps3 120gb)

4 Stars PS2 to PS3 Controller Adapter
Works great but has a slight lag when pressing buttons all in all a great product that I would recommend.

Scooby-Doo! First Frights is a 3D action platformer and companion game to “Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins,” a live-action prequel to the original series which releases on DVD and on the Cartoon Network in Fall 2009. Filled with the same hair-raising, yet family-friendy fun that has made the Scooby-Doo! franchise iconic for decades, First Frights is a fresh take on an old favorite featuring multiple game modes, a co-op play option, and a young version of Scooby, and teenage representations of all your other favorite Mystery, Inc. characters.

  Story
In Scooby-Doo! First Frights players witness the roots of Mystery Inc. as the gang unites for the first time to solves some of its first mysteries. The story picks up right where the DVD/Cartoon Network leaves off as Scooby, Shaggy and the rest of the super-cool teen Mystery, Inc. gang explore spooky environments, solve puzzles, combat enemies and collect clues to unmask devious villains and gain prestige as world famous sleuths. With ghosts and ghouls around every corner, high school has never sounded so fun.

Gameplay
An action platformer spread over 22 levels, Scooby-Doo! First Frights challenges the player to utilize the unique strengths, abilities, weapons, and other items of each member of Mystery, Inc. through a series of adventures and puzzle-solving scenarios. The game features game modes such as Storyline and Freeplay, as well as single player and drop in/out two-person co-op play options. The co-op option is an important feature due to each character’s unique skill set which can be utilized better depending on who they are paired with. In addition, this functionality allows more experienced players, like parents or an older child, to share the adventure with younger or less experienced players, with each taking the lead as they wish. Along with these features the game also contains additional features such as charged attacks, voice talent from the “Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins” release, and character powerups that are sure to please both kids and their parents alike.

5 Stars Great Game for Kids, and Moms!
This a great game to play. My 4 year old and I can play together and both have fun. He plays Star Wars and Batman Legos and this is right up his alley, with only Boss fights being a bit tough for him. I am picky about which video game I like to play, Super Mario, Batman Legos, game show games and I am really enjoying this game. It is very much like Legos games except you don’t build things. I can see this game being finished quickly, only 22 levels, but the replay value is great as you have to attempt to find all the Scooby snacks and clues and tags in each level. I would recommend this game for those of you who like Legos and Super Mario Galaxy. This is not a difficult game, by any means, but a fun-for-all-family members game.

5 Stars If you’re a fan of Scooby-Doo…
Then you’ll surely love this game as it captures the spirit of the popular animated series right down to the chase scenes and Scooby-snacks.

It gives you a unique chance to play as all 5 members of Mystery inc, but as a much younger stages and in 2 person team-ups.Each level is design to fit that member of the gang and it’s gameplay is very easy ways for younger players to understand.

The stages are Split up into two ways…Story mode and Explorer mode, it’s Explorer mode that you have to use if you want to get more goodies after playing the levels the first time in Story mode.

Like all Scooby games there are monsters that you can beat through the ways of combat, as it split into two ways: long Range (Shaggy, Velma and Fred) to Melee (Scooby And Daphne). However, in the game you’ll collect special costumes that the gang can use in that level, and that you can buy later after you complete that level. Each costume has a unique ability that you can use to help you defeat more monster foes.

Young or old, if your a fan of Scooby-doo, then this is the game for you.

5 Stars roooby roooby ROOOOO!
Very well-polished game that truly captures the feel and character of the original Scooby Doo series. From the excellent voice acting (Fred, Shaggy and Scooby are the stand-outs,) to the laugh track and ‘Chase’ sequences – everything a Scooby fan could want is here. You get the chance to play as different characters as the gang “splits up” to solve a mystery. You may, for example, play as Shaggy and Scooby while they are looking for clues – then, the story line switches and you play as the other members of the gang who are exploring a different area. Sometimes, meeting up and switching characters. Great action sequences, as well. Only animated punching and kicking of the bad guys – not violent in any way.

In general, the difficulty level is relatively easy – making it very accessible for younger gamers. With co-op mode (and the ability of the 2nd player to drop in and out of the game at any time,) my 6 y/o and I have had a great time playing this one together. There are some spots that the younger set will probably need someone to help them with. I originally figured that I would drop in/drop out only when my 6 y/o needed help, but quickly found the two of us playing together for the entire game and having a great time.

The only negative thing that I can point out is that sometimes the camera can get a little wonky and be difficult to follow (a la Super Mario 64,) but this is only a minor complaint and probably true of most 3D games in some regard. It happens realtively infrequently, anyway, so it is really a non-issue in my book.

If you like Scooby Doo, then you should love this game. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the gameplay and accessibilty for the younger gamer. Often times, TV or movie licenses that are made into video games are nothing more than broken shovelware. Not so, here! Torus Games has created a first class product.

The XBOX 360 or PS3 fanboy/fangirl will probably find this game FAR too easy in terms of gameplay. But for the Scooby fan or the casual or younger gamer, it should be a big hit.

5 Stars Best Wii game for my kid yet
I bought this game for my son prior to any reviews with more than a little bit of trepidation, since a lot of Wii games have held no long term interest for him. I’m very glad I did. The game play is smooth, there is just the right amount of spookiness, and much of the annoying parts of gaming (there is no starting over at a saved spot; no limited amount of time; no do-or-die jumps) that I — let alone an eight year old get frustrated at. The play is also not without social value — I’m reaching, I know. You play both boy and girl characters and everyone has a special move that is needed during the game, Only cartoony monsters and robot get hurt, etc.

I have only two beefs: there are only 4 episodes, so I’m hoping for a quick sequel, and it wouldn’t have been too hard to change the clues gathered during game play each time so you would have different suspects be the villain and avoid knowing whodunit. This last point bothers my son not at all.

More than worth it.

3 Stars A bit redundant, but my 5 year old loves it
I rented this game for my 5 1/2 year old son, who loves Star Wars Lego. He seems to enjoy it. He does occasionally need help and it seems like you have to do the same thing OVER and OVER again to get to the next level. Very cute characters and I love that the characters say the lines on the screen, since my son cannot read yet and I can’t sit there and read everything to him. I also like that when the game pauses it tells you the objective of the level (kill all the monsters, or explore) this comes in handy when I need to help my son things out. There is usually a trail of Scooby snacks to lead you, which again is helpful when you don’t know which way to go. Overall, a cute and fun game and I would probably give it higher scores if I did not have to help sometimes with all the never ending monster killing scenes which tend to annoy me, and drag out the play time. I will probably end up buying it, with the hopes that I will not have to play that often.

3 Stars wii shred ax
The only bad thing about this guitar is the shoulder strap; it keeps coming off the hook… which can be a problem when you’re in the middle of playing.

5 Stars Better than original
I recently bought GH3 for wii, which came with a guitar. This guitar has the exact same feel as the original – even the raised line on the yellow key is identical. The shape is slightly different, and the strap attaches in a slightly different place, but this is not noticeable. Even after getting used to the original guitar, I cannot even tell which one I’m holding unless I check the label. Unlike the other reviewer, I do not find the strap comes loose while playing.

A few days after using the original guitar that came with the game it was already starting to not work as well – the yellow key would not work occasionally (apparently a design flaw in the original guitar with the neck not connecting well enough with the body of the guitar). However, I am yet to experience any problems like that on this guitar.

Highly recommended. 1/3 the price of the original guitar, and works equally well/better.

3 Stars NOT full size
Be warned that this is a mini-version guitar. Thankfully my wife will use it, but even she prefers the regular size one. Probably good for kids, but skip it if you’re an adult….

4 Stars Absolutely works with Beatles Rock Band. Nice Price
I think the best part of this guitar is the price. It works great and best of all I can also confirm that it 100% works with The Beatles Rock Band. Yeah the guitar is a little small, but it does the job. This is a really good value if you are looking for a second or third guitar, or like me you just bought the game and not the game/guitar package.

4 Stars Compatible with Rock Band Beatles!
I am happy to confirm that this guitar does indeed work with (Wii) Rock Band Beatles. I took a chance on it based on some information I found on the Rock Band website, and received the guitar today. It works fine. The guitar is also of better quality than the Xbox 360 Guitar Hero guitar we have, or the PS/2 guitar we have. I think it’s a good value at the best Amazon pricing.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars The Game is only fun with the Gun
If you play this game with just the Wiimote and Nunchuck you’re gonna hate it. The bundle is the best value. $[...] for the gun and game. You can’t beat that. It is well worth the money too. I’ve had more fun playing this than tiger woods 2010 and some of the other games I have. It is about hunting but there is not a lot of blood and gore so even though I wouldn’t recommend it for kids. I can’t see an issue with them playing it. I like how you have to find signs like tracks, droppings and scent markings, places for cover to get better scores. I’ve played this game for about 4hrs and I’ve only gone about half way through it. I still have plenty of missions to do over again so I can get a gold medal. The replayability is high.

4 Stars Good for a first shooter. Nice gun peripheral. Enjoyable game.
Just purchased my first WII at the new reduced price. Wanted a new shooter that came with it’s own gun peripheral. The Top Shot Wii sawed off shotgun peripheral worked well once I got the right configuration selected from the options. The game controls are very intuitive and the first few levels of the game that I have played through have proven enjoyable enough without being too difficult. The continue is a great help whenever you come to an untimely demise and being pretty much of a pacifist, I find the action fairly comfortably paced. Someone who is pickier about constant action, high intensity and challenge from a first person shooter, probably would find this a bit of a yawner, but as a recreational hunting simulation it definitely satisfies. Of course there is the familiar problem with occasional invisible walls, but from what I’ve seen in video reviews of other hunting games, it is fairly minimal. The multiplayer is reminiscent of Deer Drive with a lot larger variety of animals. I have had gamers between the age of 10 to 74 play this game and it appeals to all age groups.

3 Stars very fun game to play, but the graphics come up a bit short
Remember Tigerwoods 2010, the xbox and ps3 version looked amazing in the graphics dept., but the wii version was just so much more fun to play.

same deal here. the xbox demo looks pretty but no light gun. Wii version looks muddy graphic-wise but shooting with the shotgun that comes with the game is a serious blast.

plus the Wii has 13 shooting galleries, in addition to the career mode, were you try to blow away as many animals as possible in a time limit.

As far as any other issues in the game i would only mention that navigating in the main career mode can be a little tricky,

i kept on running into cliff walls, trees, and looking up at the sky, you gotta swing the shotgun every time you want to look around.

all in all, i’m giving this game 3 stars just because the graphics look so horrible compared to the other next gen versions. gameplay is great.

I picked up the Top Shot bundle on sale for $[...], wouldn’t really pay more than that for it.

4 Stars Repetitive.
This game is for true battlers. There is no story, all you do is battle. It’s not like Colloseum or XD,it’s more like Stadium. It can get repetitive, since you’re just battling.

But,it’s still a good game for Pokemon fans. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you own Diamond,Pearl,or Platinum, though.

You can also get some cool Pokemon, like a surfing Pikachu.

pros:

poketopia awesome

graphics great

cool characters and places to battle

cons:
Ideal for wall-mounted flat screens Powered by 4 AA batteries (included)

5 Stars Does exactly what it says it does
I purchased this wireless sensor bar after deciding to renovate our basement and purchase a LCD TV to mount on the wall. We plan on keeping the Wii and other components about 10′ from where the TV will be, so using the sensor bar that comes with the Wii was out of the question.

I’ve had the product for a little more than a month now and it has worked great. I sometimes forget to turn it on before I sit down on the couch, but that is just my bad memory and no fault of the sensor bar itself. The only minor annoyance I have with the product itself is the extremely bright LED light on the front of the sensor bar, but it isn’t enough to downrank the product. I really appreciate the audible alarm that can be turned on to go off after the sensor bar has been on for one of the preset lengths of operation (1 hr or 2 hrs). This really helps forgetful people such as myself from draining a set of batteries unneccessarily. To top it all off, it comes with the 4 AA batteries that you need so it works right out of the box! I highly recommend it for people in situations where the wired sensor bar is not an option or for those who tend to play further than the range of the wired bar.

5 Stars Not a game, but makes Wii setup much more fun (and aesthetically pleasing)
First off, this sensor bar was not an option for me, it was a requirement. I have a front-projection home theatre set-up with a Mitsubishi 720p projector on an 8-foot screen. The living room is ~24 long (from projector to screen) and 17 wide. Without this sensor, I wouldn’t have been able to have the Wii in the back office with the projector. Now we just turn this baby on and play without having to worry about running a useless, tiny black cord through the living room.

As other reviewers have noticed, all this device does is emit a signal that the Wiimotes then use to translate your motion to the Wii. We have perfect control from anywhere within the living room and parties with Mario Kart are especially fun when you’re 1/4 of the screen is still 4×4 feet!

For the price, this device would be worth the convenience factor alone. The fact that it increases Wiimote range, turns itself off after a timer, and is supremely easy to set up and use (i.e. even my boyfriend could use it and he’s tech-hopeless), this device deserves all 5-stars.

4 Stars Get this.
The Wii sensor bar that comes with the system is garbage and useless so throw it out and get this.

reason being, i find this more precise when using the Wii remote, and better when playing at a distance.

Now the only problem i have is that it takes batteries, and that i gotta get up and hold down the Power button to turn off. Otherwise this is a great accessory.

1 Star No Good for Wall Mounted Flat Screens
I’ve got a wall mounted flat screen. The original sensor bar’s wire is too short to be routed through the wall and still reach (like all my other wires). It’s also mounted high on the wall. SO I NEED the sensor bar to be mounted on the bottom so I can reach the ON/OFF button because it needs to be turned on and off independently of the WII (that kinda sucks). The thing needs 4 AA batteries = it’s too heavy for double sticky tape to hold for very long. And you can’t permanently mount it because the battery access is on the bottom that is up against the TV. I tried several ways to try and keep the thing mounted but ultimately had to DRILL into my TV’s case (underneath) to make holes to run fishing line to hold it from falling off. I’ll be looking for a better solution. So, if you have a flat screen mounted on the wall where you can’t reach the top of the TV to turn this thing on and off … well you’ve been informed and should know what you are in for.

2 Stars Wireless sensor bar for on-the-wall TV
I was so excited to find a wireless sensor bar. We have a TV that hangs on the wall and the wire was distracting. My problem is that the sensor bar does not stick to the underside of the TV. To stick it to the top of the TV takes away much of the ease using the remote. i.e. the “hand” you need to make selections is difficult to bring up. When I used double sided tape to stick it on the bottom of the TV the sensor worked much better but it fell off quickly. BUMMER!

Rhythm Heaven is a simple and infectious rhythm game that anyone can play. If you can tap your finger in time to music, you’ll get the hang of Rhythm Heaven in no time! Rhythm Heaven features original music in dozens of rhythm-based minigames. The music, created by legendary Japanese pop-star producer TSUNKU, is addictive and catchy. Even though the controls are simple to grasp, each minigame challenges the player’s grasp of rhythm by throwing in interesting beats and off-beats. Some mini-games involve slapping a man’s arm, flicking animals out of a garden, and zapping spaceships!

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars A Piano Teacher’s Point of View
As soon as I got this, I realized the potential of having music students enhance their rhythm skills through this game, even before they formally learn particular counting patterns in their music studies. Only, this is a uniquely FUN way of learning! I am literally demonstrating it to the families I teach to present it as something to purchase as an asset to their lessons. Of course the kids love me for that! Who’d a thought they would get a DS game because of their piano teacher?!

If you are a music student or the parent of one that struggles with keeping time or using a metronome, this game will install a solid, internal beat inside every gamer, whether they realize it is happening or not. I have passed many mini-games with my eyes closed while purely tuning into the music and the sound cues that are provided as you progress. The key to winning is in the beat! You cannot be successful at this game without “hearing” the songs assigned to each mini-game or without engaging with the music’s rhythm.

The other thing I find myself doing with the taps and flicks is that I am actually “playing” the game as if it were an instrument. The games themselves become part of the music! Every interaction with the game becomes motion creating sound that completes the songs that the games are set to. It is like being a participant in a band, choir, or orchestra. But, because of the literal game you are playing, it is a unique experience.

It can be hilarious as you interact with the characters through the mistakes you make or the successes that allow you to pass each level. I have found myself full-out laughing at some of the antics or creative surprises that are thrown at you along the way.

I own about 50 DS games and this game is definitely in my top five. I recommend it to anyone that loves a challenge, fun, and music. Here’s to Rhythm Heaven 2!

PS: If you are a music student who wants this game, feel free to show this review to your parents or other family members. Glad to help out!!

5 Stars Split Decision
I think the game is crap, but it was bought for my girlfriend so her review gets used. She is completely addicted to it. It seems boring and repetitive to me, but it sucks her in and doesn’t let go until the battery dies.

4 Stars very challenging ds game
This is a lot of fun but have yet to pass any of the levels so am very thankful it lets you go on to the next level after you try and pass the previous one so many times. The different rhythm games are unique and not boring to do over and over again.

4 Stars Rhythem Heaven
A little frustrating at first…needs better instructions. But once you get the hang of it, it’s fun.

5 Stars Amazing all around!
This game was an impulse buy but boy is it an awesome game that has consumed me. Its geniusly made and so much fun. Every age group will enjoy this game. Worth every penny!

Gameplay
In ExciteBots: Trick Racing players race around internationally located tracks in the form of their favorite insect, amphibian or mammal themed bot. Each bot has its own special abilities which will serve players well when they find themselves on the right terrain to take advantage of these. As with pretty much any racing game, a major goal is to complete the course at the highest speed possible, but players are also tasked with performing stunts and participating in mini-games. Players win bonus stars for crossing the finish line sooner, but stunts, style and these mini-games are as important as speed. For example: have you ever wished that you could play poker while racing? Think you can toss a dart or roll a bowling ball while leaving the competition in the dust? ExciteBots provides you with your chance. Stars can be traded for a variety of goodies, like new vehicles, tracks, icons and statues.

Control Schemes
The control scheme of ExciteBots is easy and fun. The game can be played with just a Wii Remote or via the combination of a Wii Remote and a Nintendo Wheel accessory/any third party wheel. The 2 Button on the Wii Remote controller is the gas. The + control pad gives drivers a speed boost. Players turn the Wii Wheel accessory left or right to steer, tilt the Wii Wheel in midair to glide or to adjust pitch for perfect landings, swing the Wii Wheel in circular motions around boost bars to build up speed and press the A Button to activate items or to cash in hands in Poker Mode.

Key Features

Special ExciteBots: Trick Racing bundle features included Nintendo Wii Wheel.

The game takes the big-air thrills and simple pick-up-and-play controls of ExciteTruck and ramps up the fun with a constant barrage of funky challenges and mini-games performed at blinding speed. Players shoot goals, throw pies and even play poker in the middle of rowdy races around off-road tracks.

Having your vehicles drive, walk or fly around the track quickly is one thing, but it’s more important to go around in style. Players earn stars for huge jumps, cool tricks and daring feats at high speed.

Six players can race online* via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in both Excite Race and Poker Race modes. If friends can’t join online, players can exchange ghost data via WiiConnect24 and challenge their friends to outdo their most daring tricks.

2-player multiplayer versus mode featuring split screen display is also available for local play.

Special Moves
Just as in ExciteTruck, drivers can hit blocks that morph the terrain before their eyes and create ramps from which players can launch mega-jumps. Players can aim for and swing around boost bars or open presents that unleash a variety of wild items, such as bottle rocket boosts or clacker mouths that chomp on other racers to slow them down.

Mini-Games
Now what about those mini-games. Do you know of any other game that features high-speed robotic racers combined with bowling, poker, clown faces and sandwich making? Didn’t think so, but how do these game work?

Soccer: Drive into the soccer ball and attempt to hit it into the goal.

Bowling: Drive through the pins and attempt to get a strike.

Darts: Line up your bot and let the dart fly. Try to hit bull’s-eye in the distance.

Clowns: Hit the clown in the face with a pie by throwing it at just the right angle and speed.

Sandwiches: Drive through the ingredients in the proper order to make a delicious sandwich.

*Note that broadband access is required for online play.

This game is extremely fun, and is one of my top games of the year. Coming from a professional gamer, buy this game if you are looking for the mario kart fun, with amazing speed, and a boost of innovation. I reviewed this game on GR, and gave it a 5/5.

BUY IT NOW! At only 20 dollars with a wheel, it’s a steal, and these should not sit. Buy Buy Buy!

4 Stars Excite Race: Take 2
There is no question about the appeal of racing games on the Nintendo Wii. After the massive success of Mario Kart Wii last year, it has honestly been very difficult to see that if Nintendo can actually top itself again. Well, Nintendo has shown that eagerness again. When the Wii got launched in 2006, one of the introduction titles was Excite Truck. the game did a good job at showing the need for speed onto the Wii. But the game was sadly overlooked in place of other titles like Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and the dynamic Wii Sports, which of course came with the system. Well, Nintendo is going to try the racing series yet again, and this time it is a bit stranger than before.

Excitebots: Trick Racing for the Nintendo Wii, brings in the wild, and honestly a bit weird into the gaming, as you race not cars or trucks, but robotic animals. Yes, robotic animals like Bats, Grasshoppers and Beatles. It might seem akward, but it does bring in a new twist in racing. The gameplay does work as it did before with Excite Truck, the way to score and unlock new races, is to perform outrageous stunts like Ring Jumps, perform tricks, and smash your opponents. The graphics look good, but the gameplay is also interesting. You can control the game like you did before with Excite Truck, by steering the controler like it is a wheel, or you can also use the Wii Wheel, which comes with this package, or if you’ve bought Mario Kart Wii.

There are a few new things here that make the game a bit strange. One of the things includes the extra bonuses you get during the race, are from racing stunts like throwing and scoring in darts, from trying to score a bowling strike, to tossing a pie in the clowns’ face. You can also score stars by performing twirls on hanging bars. This requires a lot of control and especially tight timing. The other new feature is the use to play against other racers online through the Wi-Fi. It makes the games a bit interesting, as you score your way first to the finish line, as you and as many as 5 other racers make your way through tracks around the world from Asia, Africa, and Europe.

While there are a lot of new things here, there sadly is a few faults with the game. The first big disadvantage is the control. It can be very tricky at first, but it takes awhile to get used to. Also, unlike Mario Kart Wii, you cannot use the Gamecube or Wii Classic Controllers either. The game mainly uses the Wii-mote. The second disadvantage is the online gaming. While you can race against other Excitebots online, they could’ve allowed it to allow more than just 6 racers for a match.

You can buy Excitebots: Trick Racing with, or without the Wii Wheel definitely. But, if you haven’t bought Mario Kart Wii, you might want to get the expanded version with the Wii Wheel, for a bit more extreme gameplay. Nevertheless, despite a few faults, Excitebots: Trick Racing definitely brings in a bit of weirdness into gameplay that is sure to knock you off your rockers. If you haven’t yet played Excite Truck, than you’ll definitely want a new spin on what makes the Wii extreme with Excitebots: Trick Racing.

Graphics: B

Sound: B

Control: B 1/2-

Fun & Enjoyment: B- for solo; B 1/2- for multiplayer

Overall: B-

5 Stars Lots of Fun
My 6 year old son and I can’t stop playing this game. Lots of FUN, it’s not your typical racing game, there is so much to do it keeps you on your toes. We can’t recommend this game enough.

P.S. The Bat is our favorite ExciteBot to use

5 Stars One of the best games on the Wii
I got the bundle and the guitar was fine, I didn’t experience any issues at all. I have been playing this game for probably two weeks and although I was initially disappointed by the songs (I had never heard of most of them), I began to like them more after playing them a few times.

I have only played this game with the guitar, but it says I can also play with the microphone, bass guitar and drums. Also, it allows a DS to connect to it for Roadie Battle.

The graphics are pretty good for the Wii. Not boring or too cute. I like how the Wii remote will make sounds if you miss a note, and I like how if you rock the guitar, it will enable “Star Power”. I like how you can customize your band mates.

Overall, it is one of my favorite games for the Wii.

1 Star THE GAME IS GOOD THE GUITAR IS NOT.
Unbelievably! I’ve been dealing with returning my GH5 GUITAR BUNDLE with GAMESTOP for the last 2HRS. And yes, once again, the WHAMMY bar, nose dives as soon as you pull the guitar out.

Let me take you back to my last GH experience a year ago. I bought a brand new GH WORLD TOUR GUITAR and guess what? The WHAMMY bar nose dived to the ground. I swapped out my guitar for another crappy guitar with the same WHAMMY droopy problem, that wasn’t as bad as the last one. I’ve suffered WHAMMY problems for the last year until I took matters in my own hands, and opened up my guitar and with the help from a website and a little teflon tape. I had to repair my own guitar because EVIL ACTIVISION said my warranty was up. MY WARRANTY WAS UP!!! You guys never made the guitar solid from the beginning! And you still are selling defective guitars!!!!!!

Present day. GAMESTOP sold me a defective guitar. I pulled out my guitar and the WHAMMY BAR goes SOUTH. The dude at GAMESTOP opened up 3 more GH5 GUITAR BUNDLES for me while I was there. And yes, all 3 WHAMMY BARS went SOUTH with a light touch of a finger. What was most shocking is the dude at GAMESTOP, told me it wasn’t the worse thing in the world. IT’S DEFECTIVE DOUCHE BAG!!!!! You can’t sell broken guitars!!!! What’s even worse is he told me he would put all 4 defective GH5 GUITAR BUNDLES back on the shelf and sell to people who might not mind as much because he didn’t want to take a hit. He doesn’t want his store to lose money. He just wants to sell the customer a broken product!!! THESE ARE DEFECTIVE GUITAR WITH CRAPPY ASS WHAMMY BAR THAT GOES SOUTH with the littlest of touch. OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!!! BEWARE of GAMESTOP! DON’T SHOP THERE!

First off, ACTIVISTION SHOULD OF DELIVERED A 100% bad ass GUITAR that works great with every SEQUEL! There is no reason why this can’t happen! I still own a PS2 GH 2 guitar, and it friggin ROCKS. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME, on you ACTIVISION for being lazy and shady.

Second. Why in the hell is GAMESTOP reselling defective product? How is this legal? And why are they still in business? BEWARE!!!!!!!

And finally. I was under the impression I’d be receiving GH VAN HALEN today, and that is not the case. False advertisement? Instead of the game now I get this sticker that I have to sent out, and then maybe in the next 5 to 6 weeks I will get my free game. And as far as the 2 free songs you get at GAMESTOP. You can redeem that coupon SEPTEMBER 4th, maybe. Who knows, maybe it won’t work at all. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT, DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS, why not just lie to us about the 2 free songs.

Last but not least. How is it ACTIVISION is so friggin lazy they can’t even ship the FREE STICKERS with the game. Now you have to send out for the stickers in the mail. I don’t give a POOP about the stickers, but I’m sure there are going to be a lot of bummed out kids when they open up the NEW GH5 game and there are no stickers to cover thier guitars with.

When it’s all said and done there’s just no excuse for this type of behavior. You can’t just go selling $99 GH5 guitar bundles with a broken guitar. Or maybe you can. And all the other crap between ACTIVISTION and GAMESTOP is just a sad sad shady business. So after my 2 hr debacle with GAMESTOP, I settled for just buying the game. I’m seriously bummed out right now. I was looking forward to having a ROCKING ROLL GH5 AWESOME experience! And instead, I am compelled to write this RANT instead. Even with a great 9.3 IGN review, it doesn’t matter much when playing with a defective WHAMMY BAR now does it. I guess I’ll pop in the GH5 disc and rock out on my old yellow FRONT MAN NYKO guitar. At least NYKO knows how to make a fine product.

FRUSTRATED GH FAN

TONY12

5 Stars If you own a Wii, you should own this game.
This is a great game, and deserves far more credit than it is getting. I own both Rock Band 1 and 2 for Wii as well, and LOVED both of those games far more than any previous entry in the Guitar Hero series. This newest iteration however, is really something special, ESPECIALLY if you play on Wii. Here are some great things about this game:

On ALL Consoles:

*Soundtrack: Several reviews have bashed the soundtrack for this game, and I really don’t understand why. The song selection is GREAT. Granted, I imported all of the available songs from Guitar Hero: World Tour and Smash Hits, so maybe that improves the setlist… and I also have lots of downloadable songs. But, that said, the tracks on the disk are great. Please, before you take these reviews at face value, check out the track listing for this game… there are some really great songs. Granted, I honestly do like the Rock Band 2 track list better (but I have over 150 downloadable songs in Rock Band 2… and honestly, several songs that are on GH5 are also on Rock Band…)… so just check out the setlist for yourself before you judge this game!!!

*Party Play Mode – This is a REALLY great feature, and with some tweaking in future games, could be AMAZING. Essentially, as soon as the game starts up, rather than selecting a game mode, selecting a song, players, etc… you click one of the fret buttons and are launched directly into whatever song is playing in the background. You can select a rocker, etc… but are essentially launched directly into playing a song! If you don’t like the song, you can opt to skip to the next or another song. The gameplay mechanic for Party Play mode is IDEAL for parties (DUH!). If you have ever had friends over to play Rock Band or Guitar Hero, you know what a pain it can be to actually get into playing…. everyone takes FOREVER choosing a song, which rocker they want to play as, etc…. this is a quick and easy way to get right into playing with your friends. They can drop in and out as they please (without affecting anyone else playing), so it is ideal for groups of friends. When one gets tired or wants to grab a beer, he can jump out, and someone else can take his place! Also, there is no fail in this mode, and there is even a BEGINNER difficulty (more on that later)…

*Beginner Difficulty – FINALLY! A mode where even a toddler can play! Literally! When you are playing in quick play, party play (and some of the other modes I would assume), there is a difficulty level even lower than Easy called Beginner. There are no fret colors to worry about… you simply strum at the right time. This is a really great feature. I have had some friends, as well as kids, that have a hard time grasping the concept of holding the correct fret button(s) and strumming simultaneously. Beginner mode is idiot proof! =) Yesterday, I was jamming along with a 4 year old!! And he actually won over the crowd to save me when I failed out on Expert Drums!!! This is a really nice added touch.

*Song Imports: You can import some (and eventually MOST) of the on-disk songs from Guitar Hero: World Tour and Guitar Hero:Smash Hits for next to nothing (cost me like $6 to import all of the songs). So, the day I brought GH:5 home I imported all of the available songs, and my library instantly grew to around 160 songs. This plus future dlc means this game is going to be a nice compliment to my already expansive Rock Band library!

Nintendo Wii-Specific features:

*Expanded SD Card functionality: Guitar Hero 5 is the first Wii game to make use of the expanded SD functionality added to Wii. What does that mean? With games like Rock Band 2, you were limited to only using standard SD cards (maximum size of 2GB) for storing downloadable songs. With this being the case, Rock Band (as well as Guitar Hero World Tour) lowered the quality of the downloadable songs and removed the album art to decrease the file size so as to maximize the number songs songs we could download. Starting with GH5 however, we can use high-capacity SD cards up to 32GB. Long story short: Guitar Hero 5 is the first game available on the Wii that takes advantage of these large sd cards, effectively adding a “hard drive” to the Wii. You no longer have to swap 2gb sd cards back and forth (before, I had one 2gb card for virtual console and wiiware games, and a separate 2gb sd card that stored rock band downloadable songs). The process is elegant and seamless…. and just plain works! THE ONLY complaint I have is that you can’t preview songs that you have stored on the SD card… so when you are selecting a song to play, when you highlight songs that are on the disk, a brief preview plays. If the song is stored on your sd card, it doesn’t preview. But, I can live with that, considering the fact that I can easily store 800+ downloadable songs on a single 32gb sd card now!!!

*Roadie Battle Mode – Long story short, this mode allows a friend that owns a Nintendo DS to act as your “roadie” and sabotage other players in this mode. I dont own a DS, but from what I have heard, this mode is FUN, and easily one of the best features of the game. Check it out!

This is a really great game, and I am glad that I didnt listen to all of the negative reviews (I almost passed on it!). I am a loyal Rock Band fan, but with Guitar Hero being the first music game on Wii to adopt the use of the high-capacity SD cards, as well as allowing the import of GH:WT and SH… AND giving away Guitar Hero: Van Halen (which has an AWESOME soundtrack!!!!!!!)…buying this game was a no-brainer. Great songs. Fun and well-done gameplay. Impressive party play and co-op features. If you own a Wii, you should own this game…period.

My review scores:

Gameplay: 10/10

Difficulty: Varied (Anyone from grandma to seasoned hardcore guitar hero veterans can get loads of value out of this game)

Presentation: 9/10

Lasting Value: 10/10

Overall: 9.5/10

5 Stars Guitar is holding up fine
Some of the first songs are not the most popular, but it works up to it eventually. As for the guitar – no problems with it – and I am not gentle with whammy or strum bar. Star-power is really easy to activate. Some of the new features are cool but haven’t had much of a chance to take advantage of them yet.
