5 Stars wii cars game – great buy
my son (age 6) loves this game, it is easy for him to play on his own, well worth the price!

3 Stars No Really Pre-Schoolar Friendly
I bought this game for my 4 year old who is a ‘Cars’ fan. Though generally he enjoys it, I think it does not cater to pre-scholars who are not yet able to read. The controls for racing are too many e.g. press 1 for this , 2 for that, A for something else, B for another thing etc. The instructions are in the manual instead of on the screen, so everytime you forget how to do something you have to go back to the booklet. It would have been good if the instructions were on the screen and voiced, so that little kids could access them themselves instead of having to call Mom each time they need to perform a function they cannot remember. I give this product 3 stars instead of 2 stars just because my son still manages to play it.

1 Star Wii Cars
I was asked to review the product, but have never tested it. Sorry for poor rating.

The CD was not working. The Wii player is not able to read the disk. The game might be fun, and the reason for ordering it ! In the future I will buy games locally were it is easier to return it!

5 Stars Happy with the service provided
I’m very satisfied with the service provided along with fast shipping. I will certainly order again.

4 Stars Fun Game!
This game is a lot of fun. It has many different activities and it has good reaction to the wii remotes. The only thing I didn’t like is that some of the games you have to play to get to another level of play I couldn’t figure out and so I am kind of stuck in one area… I’m sure most kids can figure it our better than me.

Building on the Call of Duty4: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War thrusts players into the ruthless and gritty chaos of WWII combat and challenges them to band together to survive the most harrowing and climactic battles in both the European and Pacific theaters. The title re-defines WWII games by offering an uncensored experience with unique enemies, jawdropping fire power like the flamethrower, and combat variety, including Kamikaze fighters, ambush attacks, Banzai charges and cunning tactics, as well as explosive on-screen action through all new cooperative gameplay.

Features:

Multiplayer – Call of Duty: World at War supports intense, online multiplayer action using the Call of Duty4: Modern Warfare engine. Bringing multiplayer to the Wii for the first time in the Call of Duty franchise, players will be able battle it out in a variety of game types, plus upgrade and customize characters by using perks and completing challenges.

Squadmate Mode – This single-screen cooperative mode lets players team up to play alongside friends and family. At any moment, a second Wii Remote can be activated, giving the second player their own aiming crosshair to provide cover and added firepower while fighting alongside their Squadmate.

Combat-Look – Call of Duty: World at War includes “Combat-Look” technology – as the player runs through the game’s diverse environments and topographies, the vertical line of sight discreetly adapts to keep players focused on the battlefield without having to radically adjust for uphill/downhill grade variations in the terrain. This system still allows complete freedom and mobility for targeting and results in a smoother and more playable Wii experience.

Wii Zapper Support – Call of Duty: World at War fully supports Nintendo’s Zapper controller through a customized game setting that allows the entire game, including multi-player, to be played with the Zapper. This customized setting adds a new way to play by incorporating unique gestures and button layouts that add to the Call of Duty experience.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars World at War = Awsomesauce!
NOTE: I AM REVIEWING A WII GAME, SO ALL OF MY RATINGS SHOULD BE READ IN THE CONTEXT OF A LOWER END CONSOLE.

Call of Duty is a solid title on almost all consoles, and World at War doesn’t disappoint. The graphics are, of course not as good as the Conduit, but they’re still pretty sweet for a Wii game.Call of Duty: World at War is a WW2 shooter with a two part campaign, the Marine Raiders and the Russian army. The Marine campaign is set in the pacific theater fighting the Japanese, and the Russian campaign is set in a urban area fighting Nazi Germany. The Marine part of the game is slightly cliched, and it plays a lot like most any other WW2 game(Call of Duty 3, Medal of Honor games etc.) , although it also has a lot of differences, like the jungle setting, the use of flamethrowers, and cool vehicle play, which makes it fun, if a little boring it times. The Russian campaign is set in the same old WW2 urban environment, but it’s still very interesting.

The online play is AWESOME(and addictive), with a huge variety of weapons, perks, and interesting maps. One thing the online mode lacks however, is different game modes, like Capture the Flag, War, and others. Also the Wii version is missing maps. you won’t see Roundhouse, Airfield and more, but you still have a decent nine selections.Kill streaks are good, as always, and friend codes are…interesting.

That’s it for the overview, here’s the ratings.

–Campaign:

-Gameplay: 8.0/10.0 Good, not great.

-Graphics: 8.0 Good for a Wii game…

-Framerate: 9.0 Very good.

-Sound Effects: 9.0 Very good.

-Weapons: 8.0 Pretty good.

-Controls: 8.0 Nice n’ smooth.

-A.I.s: 9.5 Great!

Overall: 8.5 Very good.

–Online:

-Gameplay: 9.5 Awesome!

-Weapons: 9.5 Awesome!

-Perks: 9.5: Awesome!

-Maps: 8.5 Very good.

-Kill Streaks: 9.0 Great!

Overall: 9.5 AWESOMESAUCE!

Total: 8.8

This is a great game for the wii, one of, if not the best first person shooters on the market.

4 Stars Intense, Exhilirating, Awesome
I’m not a regular gamer- didn’t growup with the joystick glued to my hand and I don’t claim to know much about the hundreds of other wargames on the market- but I found this game to be both challenging and intense. You can sit for hours playing this game and not even realize time has passed. The game is designed to challenge both your motor skills and your ability to react under pressure. You’ll face snipers that move as steatlh like as cats, tanks that will blow apart everything around you and flamethrowers that will burn you to a crisp- and you will enjoy it! The only irritating thing about this game is that no British soldiers were used- only American and Russian- thus overlooking a key part of the war against Nazi Germany. I sold my game after a few weeks as I realized that I was becoming too addicted to playing it.

5 Stars This is a non-biased review for a Wii FPS for a change..
The Wii may not have the horsepower of the PS3, but it does have have the motion sensing remote and numchuck, which in theory make controlling a FPS as good or better on the Wii as the FPS system of choice: the PC. Unfortunately, many Wii games are hard to control or have ridiculous Wii-waggle BS thrown in and don’t realise the little console’s potential. I’m here to tell you Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is not one of those hastily ported PS2 games with dumb Wii gimmicks thrown in.

The game controls beautifully with the numchuck in one hand and the wii remote in the other. I don’t have a zapper gun and I wouldn’t worry about it if you don’t either. The game is suitably difficult so that even an old school gamer like myself who has played plenty of Call of Duty’s and other FPS’s finds it challenging. The Presentation is good. You won’t mistake this for a PS3 game, but it doesn’t look like a PS2 port. The graphics are well done if not cutting edge.

You can find other details from the numerous reviews or do a search of Youtube for a video, but the bottomline is Call of Duty for the Wii is fun. Sure, if you have a fast pc, then you should play FPS’s on it, duh, but if you like to sit back on the couch when you do your 1940’s style fragging and the Wii is your console of choice I can whole heartily recommend Call of Duty World at War.

1 Star Not for Immature or faint hearted
This so called game is NOT for the immature, even if the gamer is 14 yrs and over. The depiction of violence and harm towards another human being is disparaging to say the least. To think that there are software writers that have such gross imaginations, it makes one wonder. This is a very bad..I can’t even call it a game….it’s just too, too violent and graphic. How sad. I spent $50.00 for nothing other than their profit. This product is disgusting! The description should read that eyes balls are poked out and put on fire! This would deter mothers and grandmothers from making purchases as a surprise. The joke was on me!

3 Stars Meh, decent from a technical POV, aesthetics are terrible though
I’ll start with the positives and then go into the areas of the game I did not like. The controls in this game are fantastic! Really well thought out and smooth. From a technical point of view, the game has a lot going for it. However, the aesthetics and feel of the game are completely disconnected from the thematic era taking place in WW2. For example, the intro movie when you start the game is done up with modern visual effects and techno music playing in the background. They throw in some WW2 pictures and somehow think that this will set the scene and get us in the mood, which it absolutely does not (for me anyway). You can’t have modern CGI and music mixed in with old school themes. It doesn’t work guys! It takes away from the immersive experience completely. The designers of this game need to sit down and watch some old WW2 films like PT109 or Tora Tora Tora to get some ideas on what is needed to help improve aesthetics.

In closing, because the feel and experience of playing games is so important to me I had to knock some points off my rating of it. Games should be an enjoyable, memorable experience. You should be able to completely immerse yourself in them, having a complete feel for what is going on and picturing yourself there with the guys in the trench fighting back in 1941. This game just doesn’t give me that feeling.

Cool down your Wii’s temperature and charge your Remotes with Intec’s Dual Charging Station with Turbo Cooler. Keep your Wii remotes charged at all times for non-stop 24/7 gaming The built in Turbo Cooler keeps the Wii internal components cool at all times, preventing unnecessary overheating

1 Star looks cool, but sucks
A week or two after getting it we had to start sticking paper in the wii remote slot so it would touch the controller to charge (loose) and makes a horrid noise.. looks great but was a waste of money IMHO.

1 Star Don’t waste your money!!!
I purchased this charge station for my kids wii. This station lasted about a month before it completely stopped working along with my wii. Finally got the wii to work again after being on the phone with customer service for an hour. Do not use this charger with your wii. It will mess your wii gaming console up!!!

2 Stars Fan stopped working after a few months
I purchased this because my husband and I were going there a lot of batteries on the wii remotes. This appeared to be perfect because it not only charged the remotes but also cooled the Wii. When it worked, this was a great product. It was compact, quiet and stylish. The price was reasonable at the time, but since the item stopped working so soon after purchase, it is not worth it. I would look for a different item that was more reliable.

2 Stars Nice idea, bad execution
I don’t like this charging station because you have to remove the silicone covers and the lanyard just to fit them in. After some use two of the contacts have pushed themselves inside the unit and so one side doesnt work unless I open up the whole unit and push them back. After I pushed them back they just bent back inside after one use. I hope that the contact-less charger with four batteries out-performs this gadget. The fan does cool on this machine, but I’m probably going to give up on this one soon as it’s loudish.

5 Stars Great item
I love that i can charge both units and keep the console cool. great idea. highly recommend

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Fun, but not for young kids
We have a three year old daughter and a five year old son. I thought that this would be fun for them… but it is waaaay to complicated for them. An example would be the disco game, this game requires extreme rhythm! However, the adults LOVE it! The mummy-bunnies are hilarious! It’s a little like watching a cartoon character getting that much deserved beating. For all those parents thinking about buying this for their child(ren), it requires concentration, rhythm, and precision.

4 Stars Fun for everyone
This game is great when you have friends over. The different tasks are really challenging. Kids and adults love this one.

3 Stars Not a bad game, nothing special
I got this game real cheap and it was worth the price. I have heard that part 2 is better. My wife like it a lot when we first got it, but it hasn’t been played since.

3 Stars This game was alright…
We played it, actually I played it, for at the most a couple hours the night we got it. It was fun, fast paced, but repeatative.

3 Stars Rabbids too difficult?
No, the mini games are a lot of fun. HOWEVER because of the way the game is set up you have to complete a minimum of three mini games out of four for each day and then the main challenge for that day before you are put back into your prison cell (the only place the game gets saved). Some of the tasks are interesting, fun and funny but they can be difficult to master and succeed at, so if you’ve just spent some time getting something right you’re going to have to throw away your progress UNLESS you have the time to tackle two more mini games and a final challenge. It would be nice if the game allowed you to save right after each mini game when you’ve finally succeeded in getting a difficult one right, as it is the method of saving only at the end of each game day makes what should be a fun experience tedious.

The game makes great use of the strengths of the Wii controls in some very imaginative and funny scenarios and if it’s at bargain bin prices it is well worth it just for that. You would have to be dedicated to complete the game, though, because of the game mechanics.

Run through vibrant 2-D worlds, stomping on enemies and breaking blocks….then, with the press of a button, flip into 3-D! In the 3rd dimension, you’ll find hidden paths, battle foes, and uncover secrets as you explore the previously invisible depth of the 2-D landscapes! Unique Wii controls! Hold the Wii Remote sideways and control the game in classic Super Mario Bros. style! You can shake the Wii Remote to pull off stylish moves and break out of frigid ice and even point directly at the screen to get helpful hints from your sidekick. Not only that, but you’ll also play as Peach and Bowser, both with their own sets of essential skills. Hilarious adventure! When a mysterious villain kidnaps Peach and Bowser and forces them to get married, their union creates a rift of dark energy that threatens to tear the universe apart! Hilarious characters, laugh-out-loud plot twists, and unforgettable dimensions await as Mario makes his way through eight worlds, each more memorable than the last!

4 Stars Not as good as the first 2 Paper Marios
Super Paper Mario isn’t quite as good as the first 2 Paper Marios, but it’s still a fun game. The graphics look great in 2D, the game has a lot of replay value, and there are 4 different characters to use. Super Paper Mario is probably the third best Mario game on Wii after Super Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart Wii. I rate this game 89/100.

1 Star Don’t be fooled
I’m sorry. This game was absolutely terrible. It is honestly not worth your money, unless you get a really cheap price. There were hours of text you had to sit through, and no joke, the game actually got easier and easier as you progress instead of harder. The final battle with the main “bad guy” was a joke. I think I pressed one button and the game did everything else for me. More text…. then…. I won?? I was so disappointed. I was expecting the final battle to be tough. Im sorry I wasted my money. I immediately traded it in.

If you like reading mario stories that are oddly intentionally humorous, and dont even want to press any buttons or actually dont even want to play a game at all, then buy this, because the game pretty much beat itself while i sat there and watched(read).

1 Star Super Essay Paper Mario
Love to read VOLUMES of text for hours. Then this is your game. This game is just horrible. I can’t believe it’s a Nintendo product. I knew that it wasn’t going to be a Super Mario Bros. type game but wow this was bad. The graphics are laughable and I’m not one to care about graphics. The game play isn’t even that fun. You spend more time walking to places with the slow poorly rendered characters then you do trying to figure out what to do. But good god the text in this. I’ve never seen a game with this amount of reading. I would love to see the script for this game because i would guess it would hundred’s of pages long. Some of the writing is a bit witty. But after reading for 20 or more minutes you could care less about some witty quip Mario just said. Please do not waste any money on this game. Just do yourself a favor and buy a book. You’ll read less with a book.

5 Stars gift for a friend
I gave this to my friend as a birthday present because she requested it She said it’s a fun game.

4 Stars Super Mario, the Epic, and the Quest
I bought this game for my family since Super Mario Galaxy had made us dizzy on numerous occasions (traversing all those globes got to be disorienting). I guess I was also looking for something familiar and semi-nostalgic since I had grown up with the original NES.

Paper Mario is advertised as being playable in 2d or 3d, but both formats are necessary to solving puzzles presented therein. At first, flipping back and forth seems a bit annoying, but after a while it’s pretty fun; you forget you can even do it until you’re stumped, and then it’s as if you’re looking at a problem from a totally new perspective (which in fact you are!).

Longtime fans of Mario’s hijinks will not be disappointed with this release. All the familiar themes are there, as are the characters. The princess still needs saving, Koopa’s still making trouble, and there are a whole lotta tricks, traps, and challenges awaiting our moustaschioed hero.

If I had to single out one annoyance, it would be the overly wordy dialogue that establishes the plot and runs throughout the game. In the old days, they simply said “rescue the princess,” and off you went. now there are numerous dialogues at every step (something that will try the patience of older NES fans).

But the wordiness and dialogue isn’t a total wash. In laying out what is essentially Campbell’s 17 steps of the hero’s journey, it’s closer to traditional epic than perhaps any other game I have seen.

But most importantly, it’s a fun game… and a worthy successor to the Mario’s of old.

In kami, the legendary monster Orochi has come back to life and turned the world into a veritable wasteland. Players must assume the role of a wolf, an embodiment of the sun god Amaterasu, which is capable of wielding unimaginable power. The state of the world lies in your hands as you must fight ominous beings and reclaim the earth from a curse that plagues it. It is crucial to help Amaterasu make the world a place where all living creatures can dwell once again. Defeating the creatures that Amaterasu encounters will not be a small feat. The real-time fighting system not only involves biting and ramming strikes, but also allows for various attacks using bronze mirror of Yata on its back as well as a host of other unique abilities. This system allows the usage of a myriad of specials attacks typically not associated with the physical prowess of a normal wolf. As the wolf becomes more powerful, more attacks become available. This blend of stylized graphics and unique gameplay will result in a rich and dynamic experience never seen before. Traditional Japanese art comes alive through beautiful scenic 3D levels Rooted in the third person perspective, you will need to interact with the people you encounter, building their faith by clandestinely answering their prayers and wishes

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Beautiful graphics, pretty good game
Playing Okami is more like playing an anime than a game. The graphics are absolutely beautiful. The story line is interesting though it feels like the game is ending a couple of times before it actually does.

The controls are fairly easy to use though the brush can be difficult to master. Some of the more intricate drawing tasks can be frustrated, but most of them can be retried as needed without consequences (like dying).

Over all Okami is a pretty fun game if you like exploring the countryside.

5 Stars Fascinating!
Okami is a very interesting game. It is based off of Japanese mythology and lore and brings it to an interesting action and mystery game. As the main character, a sun goddess in wolf guise, you must defeat the countless demons that roam the land. Throughout the game, you will find and save other gods and be bestowed their powers to aid you in your fight.

I absolutely love this game for many different reasons. I’ve never really found a game that will have anything about culture and mythology without being boring, but Okami accomplishes this. The fighting system is very interesting with 3 main types of weapons, but each type has several weapons all with their own quirks to master. Using the various gods’ powers requires you to actually draw different basic shapes (lines, circles, etc) to do different thing. Sure, the graphics on this game aren’t the best, but the play control, the backstory of the game, and the plot definitely make this a fun game. This is a one player only game, though, but it’s well worth it.

3 Stars Beautiful game but too tedious and frustrating to play, got boring fast
I got this game based on the great reviews on multiple gaming sites and I want to love it but, I have to honestly say this game is not that great. The graphics are beautiful and the game play is unique and fun at first but the game soon got tedious and repetitive due to the controls and on screen dialogue.

Pros:

–The beautiful artwork. So many colors! Every frame looks like a painting.

–The unique way of fighting: I love how this game uses brush strokes instead of mashing buttons.

–The humor of the game is rather cute and amusing. The NPCs do some funny things such as Mr Orange’s dance and the woman who chases you if you dig up her turnips.

–40+ hrs of game play (not much of a pro since I got bored 10 hrs in)

Cons:

–During dialogue and cut scenes, especially at the start of the game, you have to read through pages of subtitles while listening to some annoying gibberish. I think when they translated this game over from Japanese, they removed all the Japanese voice acting and replaced it with some weird gibberish so they didn’t have to do English voice acting. The stupid tick thing (who’s your guide in the game) just won’t shut up, which forces you to read through all of his instructions and rambles. Like another reviewer said, I wanted to gouge my eyes out.

–You can’t just pick up this game, play and learn things on your own. You’re bombarded with pages of gibberish and reading to learn the controls…speaking of which…

–The controls don’t always work like they should. For example, for the cut stroke, the game is so picky about how straight your lines are. If your line’s even slightly curved or your hand shakes a little during execution, the attack doesn’t register. It gets really annoying when you have to do the same stroke 2 to 3 times before the monster even gets cut.

–The little battles (which are triggered by stepping into this demon flag spot) get really repetitive and have no real meaning since all you gain from them is money. I try to avoid them, but sometimes the flag spot moves over and engulfs you while you’re passing by. It’s like in Pokemon where you go in the brush and you keep on getting attacked by wild Pokemon except there’s no repel in this game!

–The next mission or where to go is not very clear. You’re allowed to explore any area and waste time on any map, even if you’ve already cleared it. Some games (like Resident Evil 4) don’t allow you to do this, but Okami does and it’s very annoying. I’ve wondered around clueless for half an hour before I figured out where I was suppose to go next.

–The save points are poorly placed. I got one 20 minutes before a boss fight and I had to do the whole 20 minutes again because the boss killed me before I could find another save point. What a waste of time!

In short this game was fun and novel at first but it soon got old and annoying (like filler anime episodes, if you know what I’m talking about). I’ve played half way through and I’m genuinely too bored to even continue with messing around trying to find my next quest.

5 Stars A great game – many hours of gameplay, very much like Zelda
It is most similar to Zelda. I felt there was as much or more gameplay as Ocarina of Time (though most of it less challenging).

5 Stars Okami
This is like Banjo Kazooie meets Zelda in Japan. The characters have the wonderful uh uh uh speech and the wolf has a bug friend with a big mouth. The landscape is extremely original and breathtaking. You control a sun god and go around making the world beautiful. It’s great because the land in each section starts out corrupted but once you start defeated the monsters, the land starts blooming and the scenery changes completely. You can upgrade yourself by feeding animals and helping people around the villages and along routes, such a positive experience. The way to do a lot of these things is to paint them! With a flick of a brush you can make trees bloom and blotchy grass turn green and flowery. I could go on, but discovery is most of the fun. The game is, simply put, beautiful. Great Job!

Outdoor Challenge offers a variety of fast-paced games that engages your whole body for a fun and challenging experience. Using the specially-designed mat and the Wii Remote, you compete in over a dozen single and multi-player events like river rafting, mine-cart adventure, log jumping, and more.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Who knew exercise could be fun?!?!
I hate to exercise. It’s too much like work. This isn’t work. It’s a blast!!! I spent over 2 hours playing it by myself the first night we had it, then I got my husband and my dad playing it, too. Our only problem was trying to keep our 2 year old DS off the mat while we were playing.

Highly recommend this game to anyone who wants to get more active, but also wants to have fun while doing it. Not to mention, it’s just plain fun to play. You don’t really even know you’re exercising until you wake up the next day really sore.

4 Stars Great exercise
The game is great exercise and fun. Mine cart adventure is our favorite and the Tunnel one is great too. Some of the games aren’t as easy to figure out as others, especially the ones you play with or against other people. We haven’t figured out the teeter-totter game at all. It appears as though symbols are going to appear on the screen that you have to press, but nothing does. I also don’t understand why we can only use one remote for the games even when you are playing with two people. We really enjoy the 5 minute fitness games and really work up a sweat. I haven’t figured out the kayak game much either. It says I’m moving the remote too fast (well, how else am I supposed to paddle?!) I don’t think I’m supposed to just sit there. The game where you jump on the stone pillars is fun. Overall, it’s a lot of fun and exercise, but I do think the instructions could be better.

5 Stars 3 Generations Love This!
We love the Outdoor Challenge! Any game that my daughters, son-in-law, 2 yr old granddaughter & I all enjoy has to be great. I love the exercise I get from it and my granddaughter loves stompin’ those moles.

5 Stars Outdoor Challenge – Fun
What I like most about Active Life Outdoor challenge is that more than one person can play at a time. You definitely get your heart rate up and the sweat starts to pour. I can’t spend as much time playing as my daughter, but she loves it too and it’s a very good slim-down program that doesn’t feel like you’re exercising.

5 Stars Best Wii game purchase to date!!
I’m a 26 year old female with an 8 year old son. We’ve had a Wii for about 2 years now and I’d have to say that this has been our favorite game by far. There are various levels of difficulty making this a great gaming choice for all ages and skill levels as well as a great exercise tool. Your kids (or even you and your friends) will have so much fun that you’ll completely forget this is actually GOOD for you! Makes a great party game, too. And something to keep in mind if you’re looking for a get-up-and-move type game is that you don’t need to buy a second mat for this game to play with two players, unlike the DDR series. You should DEFINITELY add this game to your collection!

The Strike combines authentic environments based on real lakes, engaging gameplay with accurate fish and lure behaviors, and a highly interactive fishing pole controller that allows players an immersive fishing adventure. Players can enjoy 3 different game-play modes including Quick Fish, Career and Bass Pro Shops Invitational Tournament, or compete with friends in mini games like boat races and casting challenges. The lifelike fishing pole peripheral lets the player cast, jig, set the hook, and fight as if a real fish were on the other end of the line. The game takes players to some of North America’s most famous fishing hot spots and features eleven types of game fish including Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Striped Bass as well as Northern Pike and Muskie. In addition, realistic lake bottom topography, real-time time–of-day light effects, advanced graphics, and authentic fishing gear from the Bass Pro Shops stores, all combine to offer virtual anglers the most comprehensive fishing game experience to-date.

1 Star The Strike for Wii doesn’t load in Wii system
I have had 2 copies of Bass Pro Shops: The Strike and both games will not load into the Wii game system. I checked onther games and no problem.

The worst problem of all is that there is no support anywhere to find a solution to this loading problem. Nothing at the Bass Pro Shops web site, nothing at the game developers web site.

I have returned the copy I purchased from Amazon.

Great looking game, extremely poor launch of the game.

5 Stars there isn’t any tension in reeling in the fish.
I know this is a small complaint on an overall excellent game. without the reel, I’d rate the game one star because pressing the B button to reel in a fish really is BORING. to bring up the correct configuration for the peripheral you must use the controller B configuration.

now on to the game, there are tips on how to cast which is crucial to playing the game. here is the link to learn: [...] Casting is A LOT of fun. follow the instructions on the website and you’ll have a perfect cast every time. It took me about 10 minutes to try and cast and I wasn’t getting anywhere, until I followed the directions on the tutorial video.

To find the fish you must use the fishfinder, which is also really neat. that button is on the nunchuck device. trust me, without the reel, this game is horrible, with the reel it’s awesome.

so you’re in the water looking at all of the beautiful plants looking for fish. actually at times, I felt like I was playing my PS3 because the graphics are so beautiful. the fish bites, you pull the reel up and WOW! you hooked him, and now you have the option of releasing some line by pressing the drag button setting which is separated into 5 increments. holding the rod down and holding the rod up seem to have an effect, but I’m not positive on that. after all that, you go to Bass Pro shops and upgrade your gear. I immediately upgraded my line to a 17 pound test, and bought the most expensive lures. You can also upgrade your rod, reel and boat, but I just bought the game today, so I’m not there yet. I have raced the boats though, and that is a lot of fun also. I’ll tell you I bought this game without any knowledge of this company. I thought it would be worse, but I was surprised. I was actually eyeing the We Fish by Rapala, but I think it looked more kiddie, although it looked good also. Overall, I think I made a great choice and will continue playing it until I finish all of the challenges.

2 Stars Trouble is the pole..
Here’s the real deal on this package. The game itself is pretty good, fun enough and it does what it says. The issue is the pole. I rarely complain about products; my attitude is usually “buyer beware” and I cut my losses, but I can’t believe they released this pole product like it is. The reeling mechanism is not engineered very intuitively, thus it “falls off track” literally 2 out of every 3 casts or so. You’ll have to pop it open, and tediously put it back into it’s track constantly. Pretty much ruins the whole experience.

As played by George Harrison, The Beatles: Rock Band Wireless Gretsch Duo-Jet Guitar Controller will feature an authentic chrome Bigsby bridge and tremolo bar, a fast, accurate strum bar, custom fret inlays, five-way chrome knob, and auto-calibration sensor to make syncing up with any TV a breeze. So make this Guitar Gently Weep and play Something!

4 Stars Substantial size and weight, but didn’t last long
Bought this along with RB2 bundle with standard guitar and drums. We wanted to have a guitar and bass playing simultaneously.

First, the good. It’s larger and heavier than the RB guitar controller. For me that’s a plus. I find the RB guitar’s overall length to be too small to play easily. (I’m a 5′11″ adult male.) The added length of the Gretsch makes the strumming and fingering easier. It just feels more substantial than the RB one.

Now, the bad. I’ve played with it for probably 30 hours over a week and a half and the strum bar just broke yesterday. A piece started rattling around in the guitar body so I’m sure one of the contact points for the strum bar snapped. I’ve been playing all bass parts on the songs. I play enthusiastically but I don’t think roughly at all. Submitted a warranty return to EA and they’re sending a new guitar so no problem getting it replaced. But still…

Overall I’d recommend buying this if you have the money.

5 Stars Works Great For Me
The Beatles Rock Band and the Gretsch Duo-Jet guitar arrived about an hour ago and I’ve just taken a break to write this.

In my opinion, the guitar controller is really nice. One thing I really like is the silent strumming switch. The automatic audio and video calibration with Rock Band is also really a nice touch. You just hold the guitar in front of your TV and it will calibrate the audio and video synchronization for you.

Somewhere else, I saw where somebody said that the Guitar Hero guitars wouldn’t work with Rock Band. Not true. At least the Guitar Hero guitar that I have (the one that came with Nintendo Wii Guitar Hero World Tour – Guitar Kit) works great with Rock Band but it doesn’t have the auto calibrate feature. I bought the Gretsch Duo-Jet because I thought my Guitar Hero guitar wouldn’t work based on that other review. On the other hand, I now have two guitars so can play with another person.

I’ll have to see if the Gretsch will work with Guitar Hero. That one I’m not sure because the Gretsch comes with a wireless dongle that plugs into the Wii USB port to connect up and Rock Band had to do a Wii system update. Maybe that system update will also allow Guitar Hero to see the Gretsch. Fingers are crossed since I really like World Tour too.

But the Guitar Hero guitar has nicer fret buttons in my opinion. They are raised a little whereas the Gretsch fret buttons are just like the rest of the fret board. But again, the Gretsch doesn’t have an annoying click every time you press the strum bar.

All in all I like the Gretsch a lot. I haven’t been able to decide which I like better, though since each has their respective pros and cons.

One other thing – the Guitar Hero guitar that I have that came in World Tour (software and guitar for 2/3 of what the Gretsch cost by itself) takes a regular Wii controller to operate. You have to open a hatch, connect up a cable where the nun-chuck plugs in, slide it into place, and close the hatch. The Gretsch is completely self-contained. No need to supply a Wii controller to make it work. That may or may not be an issue for some.

4 Stars refunds
Great product. Seller swindles you if you try to return an item; I was given this guitar as a gift and they bought it for Wii instead of xbox 360. I tried to exchange it to no avail and eventually returned it. They decided to take a $50.00 restocking fee. I’ll never use this seller again. You’ve been warned.

5 Stars Guitar Controller
If you have the Beatles rock bank game, I encourage you to purchase this guitar to play with. Any other is simply not worth the price.

4 Stars Nice Graphics
I have purchased the world tour Guitar Hero and it plays a lot smoother than the Rock Bank Beatles. I had to Calibrate my guitar with Rock Band and I didn’t have to with Guitar Hero. BUT that isn’t what I am writting the review about.

The graphics are really cool, amazing really. The songs are fantastics, and so clear. It’s a good game, the songs can be a challenge but are a little slow compared to other Rock songs. Rent it, see if you like it before you shell out the money for this one.

The world’s most popular party videogame is getting a lot crazier in Mario Party 8 for Wii! Whether you’re shaking up cola cans or lassoing barrels, you and your friends will be drawn into the action like never before using the Wii Remote.

All-new ways to play:

Play with motion control: Row your way through a river race, Punch a statue to pieces, Steer race cars, mopeds, and go-karts, Handle a balancing pole while walking a tightrope.

Play using the Pointer: Shoot at Boos in a haunted house, Drag and drop toppings in a cake-decorating competition, Select the correct answers in game-show challenges.

Play using the Wii Remote’s buttons: Jump and pummel your way through a football brawl, Hop and run across a field of spinning platforms.

All-new features/boards:

Mario Party 8 for Wii also includes dozens of new mini-games, six new party boards, and many new game modes. In a series first, players can transform their characters into many forms, such as player-smashing boulders and coin-sucking vampires. Mario Party 8 also includes “extra-large” mini-games like Star Carnival Bowling and Table Menace. One to four players can play Mario Party 8 for Wii, each with a Wii Remote.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars The apple has fallen very far from the tree
I played this last night with a friend, and I went in with very high expectations based upon my previous experience with Mario Party 6 (which I consider the gold standard). What a disappointment. My friend hasn’t played the Mario Party series before so I was embarrassed after we finished a 10-round match, having spoken so highly of the game. It was probably my mistake to assume that MP 8 would be a worthy follow-up to its predecessors.

My thoughts, in bullet point form:

- The emcee is no longer the sun/moon character but this bizarro hat and duck (?) combo. Both of them have eyes and mouths and the two of them trade off when talking to the player. I don’t understand why the developer felt the need to insert this annoying new character–it’s not even drawn to look like a cute or clever Nintendo creation, just some mash-up of weird parts.

- The games are not creative or whimsical at all. There’s one where you drive go-karts around to pop balloons; a 1v3 minigame where you are seated in weird bird-shaped planes and you try to avoid having your 2 ballons from getting shot; a game where you just shake your controller as hard as possible to flag down a ship to rescue you from a deserted island. When you’re playing with a group of people, none of the minigames makes you and your friends want to shout in excitement or defeat after a close and challenging match–there’s just no feeling of thrill or satisfaction.

- To a previous reviewer’s point, the game only makes incidental use of the wiimote and its full capabilities. The majority of the games have you holding the controller old-school style, where your left hand controls up-down-left-right and the right hand hits the 1 or 2 buttons.

I hope the publisher comes up with some new ideas for the next installment in the series, where the wiimote’s full range of motions is incorporated into the minigames. I probably would have given MP 8 a worse rating, if it weren’t for the fact that I bought it used on Amazon for $[...], including shipping. For those considering a purchase, I recommend that you also buy it used.

4 Stars It’s Party Time!
I’ve owned this game for so long, and I still love it. It’s not like I’m addicted to it or anything like that, just it’s fun to play some party games once in a while. Mario Party 8 doesn’t fail to pick up the path that the previous Mario Party’s left for it. This time, you get to use the Wii-Mote! There are really only two down-sides to this game.

1) If you don’t have people to play with, think about picking this game up. Single player finishes quickly (although the Bowser place is really hard)and if you want to enjoy party games with three computers, then you might want to set them to different difficulties. Hard/Very Hard would be too easy, but Easy/Normal would be too hard. Try setting the opposing team with the same difficulty as your team.

2) I love the duel mini-games, but you only get to play them when you use Duelo Candy, and there’s a lot of them that I like (Lasso, Card, Construction, etc.). It sort of sucks that I have to use a candy and be near some one just to play those mini-games.

That’s all of the negatives I have. Try thinking about previous Mario Party’s, then think about using the Wii-Mote to interact in most of the mini-games. If you haven’t owned previous Mario Party’s and have people to play with, then go for it!

3 Stars A Little Disappointed
I’ve only played two of the courses but neither were very fun. One was a one way path to the stars and the other you only earned stars as you “invested” in hotels. Some of the games were cute but I like past versions much better!

4 Stars my 5 year old grandson was estatic. He had been exposed by his friends. Now he has his own.
My grandson is 5-1/2 years old. He wanted this game for some time. I live in VA & he lives in CT. I had the game sent to him. He is very pleased that he has his very own now.

3 Stars Fun game, but not one of the better Mario Parties
I am a HUGE fan of these Mario Party games.

I think i had more expectations for this game since the last gens Mario Parties are quite often fun, especially part 6 & 7. This Mario party was fine, but i would much rather play the older versions with a newer control scheme. Even playing the older ones with the older control scheme would be fine.

IF YOU CAN GET THIS CHEAP… knock yourself out.
