Shaun White Snowboarding Road Trip

Shaun White Snowboarding Road Trip

Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip for Nintendo Wii introduces a whole new way of playing snowboarding games. Developed by Ubisoft, Shaun White Snowboarding was developed from the ground up to take advantage of the Wii Balance Board, giving you an experience that is more intuitive, realistic, and fun.

You can ride on mountains all over the world, including in Japan. View larger.

Hop Onto the Wii Balance Board for a Realistic Experience
The Wii Balance Board is an accessory from Nintendo that works and is shaped like an elongated scale, with sensors that can tell how much and where pressure is applied when you stand on it. This works perfectly with Shaun White Snowboarding, as it can detect whether you are leaning forward, back, left, or right, and it reacts like a real snowboard would.

The Wii Balance Board gives you an unprecedented, realistic experience. View larger.

To jump, you quickly shift your weight to the balls of your feet, and while in the air, you tap the A or B buttons and lean left and right to grab the board and spin, respectively. A multitude of tricks are available for you to learn, and chaining them together lets you amass more points. As you do tricks, a small little icon shows up on the screen to let you know what you did. For example, if you do a 720-degree turn called a “melon,” a little watermelon slice will show up on screen.

If you would rather forego the Balance Board, you can play with just the Wii Remote as well.

Beautiful Graphics with Unique Camera System
Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip features a unique camera system, where you can choose different cameramen and camerawomen to follow you around. Some are better for tricks and others for speed, so be sure to pick the right one, as they’ll give you abilities during your ride.

As the cameraperson follows you on your ride, you’ll notice different effects, such as image blurs around the edges of the screen to give a sense of speed. The camera will collect snow when you fall, and sometimes the camera will white out after completing a big jump, as the cameraperson has to follow you and do the same moves as well. This unique system adds another element of strategy and fun to the game.

Tour the World with Shaun White
Road Trip begins with you as a newcomer to the snowboarding scene. Shaun White serves as your mentor, and together you travel the world, tackling mountains and making friends as you work your way up to becoming the world’s best snowboarder.

As you win competitions and meet new people, they’ll show you new tricks and special abilities that will help you against the competition. You’ll have to learn different snowboarding skills as you compete in races down a mountain, half-pipe events, slaloms, rail jams, and more. You can also take a breather and just free ride in the back country at your own pace.

Play With or Against Your Friends
Road Trip doesn’t have online multiplayer options, but you can play both competitively and cooperatively with a friend on a split screen. In competitive mode, you and a friend can race to the bottom or try to out-trick each other for the highest score. In cooperative mode, both of you ride down the same slope, and the scores are added together. The entire game can be played cooperatively, so you and a friend can tour the world together and unlock new extras.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars ok, but not used much
bought this when we bought our wii. both husband and daughter would rather play mario kart than this game. Not too engaging.

4 Stars D’s Review!
My family and I have a lot of fun playing this game. We have fun laughing at each other when we “go through the trees” but jumping off of the ledges are the funniest. The boys love mimicking our stances.

4 Stars Fun game.
Fun game for the Wii if you have a balance board. Subtract a star or two if you don’t. Could be more to it, but fun all the same.

2 Stars disappointing
The snowboarding is not as much fun and not as much of a workout as I expected. It gets kind of boring after the first 10 minutes. Interface is a bit clumsy. My disc got stick (froze) a few times already. Obnoxious 15-year old comments during your rides.

4 Stars Addicting!
This game is a ton of fun when played using the Wii balance board, but it is really hard to learn. It took me a good handful of times playing before I got used to how to do the jumps, manuevers and other actions. I’ve played a lot of times and still am not that great at it, but its well worth the money. I am a huge fan of snowboarding in real life and this gives you a pretty good feel as to what it’s like to snowboard. The graphics are pretty good, but one downside I’ve noticed is that even though I haven’t been playing this for very long I have nearly beat the entire game, which is a bit of a disappointment. You can still go back and improve on your scores, but I was hoping there would be more countries to explore. Overall a great game and a ton of fun, but it will take some getting used to. It’s not one of those games you can just jump right into and be a pro at, it definitely takes practice.

5 Stars Tiger Woods is great!
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 is an outstanding example of the computer sports genre. It’s easy to learn (the tutorials are a must) and it’s easy, but at times challenging, to make it through your career.

5 Stars tiger woods pga tour 10
I will never have to play golf again.Love it and it paid for it

self the first day in a/c.

3 Stars Driving is good but putting is not realistic
Driving in advanced mode is relatively realisic. Getting out of sand traps is realisitc too — better than the Wii Sport Resort game. However putting is not. Even a relatively gentle motion makes the ball go too far on somewhat long puts. Also, instead of mapping out the green using mathmatics designed to do so, so you can see the actual contour of the greens, they have these moving lights. This makes the game less fun. The size ratio of the club and green to the hole is realistic however.

3 Stars Lacks realism, especially with putting
I thoroughly enjoyed playing Wii Resorts Golf, but got a bit tired of playing the same 18 holes over and over. So, I went looking for a game with more variety. After reading the many rave reviews of TW PGA Tour Pro 10 for Wii, I spent my hard earned $[...]. According to many reviewers, this game accurately mirrors real life golf. Well, yes and no. Yes, because it incorporates the Wii controller technology allowing you to swing a virtual golf club, and no for reasons I’ll explain.

I started the game and selected some basic game options. Of the three play styles, I chose the middle one, which said for experienced golfers. Then, I was asked to select a putting style. One putter or three. THREE PUTTERS? The game then takes you through a set of short tutorials with a virtual Hank Haney. 90% of the time, I was able to complete each lesson with the first shot. The game then starts with you as Tiger Woods.

If you have never played real golf, you’ll find this easy to learn and play. If you ARE a golfer, you’ll immediately realize that good golf shots just don’t come this easy in real life. My first round in TW PGA Tour Pro 10 playing as Tiger was an impressive 4 under par 68, which included an eagle. In real life, my best round ever is an 86 and have never shot an eagle in all the years I have played. If, in real life, I could shoot sub-par golf right out of the box, I would either become a tour pro, or give up the game because of the lack of challenge, which I felt was likely to happen with the TW game. But, after creating my personal avatar, I quickly realized that my game didn’t even approach that of Tiger’s. This was my first disappointment. I played as Tiger and played exceptionally well. Then, played as myself and played considerably worse. Why? It was me swinging the controller in both cases. Here’s the reason. In the TW game, you can purchase power and accuracy with money you earn on the tour. That’s just not right if you are expecting realism from a golf game. In Wii Resorts Golf, your ability to hit good shots is entirely based on your skill with the Wii controller (your club) as it should be.

In my opinion, the Wii Resorts Golf game is a better interpretation of real golf. Here are some comparisons.

If you swing too hard in Resorts Golf, you get a bad shot. In the TW game, you can really muscle the shot and get good results; something that doesn’t work on the real golf course. Sure, the graphics are superior in the TW game, but not exceptional, and you pay the price for this by having to wait up to 8 seconds for the next hole to load. And, that’s not the only time I got impatient waiting for the game to either load or save data. EA Sports hasn’t made any real progess in the qualify of their graphics since I saw TW Pro Tour 05 for XBox 5 years ago.

Hitting draws and fades is possible, especially with the Motion Plus controller add-on. But, to achieve these spins, you open or close the club face by twisting controller, and you have to twist quite a bit; so much that if you did this in real life, you’d hit a really terrible shot.

In Wii Resorts Golf, you take practice swings by addressing the ball (pressing B), and taking as many consecutive practice swings as you like until it looks and feels right. In TW PGA Tour Pro 10, you have to press both A and B together and you get one practice swing. You have to wait for a short reset before you can take another practice swing, but by then you forgot the way the previous swing felt.

Once you’ve made your way to the green with some fairly realistic shots, you’re faced with putting that in no way resembles real golf, despite the claims EA makes. In Wii Resorts Golf, the putting is more realistic because you can actually see the terrain and visualize your putt. You can even get a view of the terrain from knee level, just like in real life. In TW PGA Tour Pro 10, the green always looks flat, but terrain is revealed as a grid with a confusing array of moving, colored dots representing flat, slight uphill, extreme uphill or slight downhill. You have to take your best guess. And, you have the practice swing issue again. The putting alone makes me sorry I bought this game.

One of the fun things about all the TW PGA Tour Pro versions is the ability to customize your avatar so that it looks almost like yourself, but be prepared to spend up to half an hour on this. You also have the ability to select, and pay for with virtual prize money, player animations.

In summary, if you’re a gamer looking for some sports variety, the TW Tour Pro game is a worthwhile purchase. It includes some other fun games, like disk golf and a mini-golf course, but I found the graphics to be too dark. Maybe it’s just my 50″ monitor. If you’re a real golfer looking for realism, the Wii Resort Golf game is a better choice, with the unfortunate limitation of only 18 holes to play, plus a special 3-hole game that is available after you prove yourself by shooting sub-par.

I’m hoping that the Wii people, or a third-party developer will come out with a multi-course golf game resembling Wii Resort Golf.

4 Stars too difficult to draw your own profile…
I like this game, it’s much more better than wii sports. But my only problem is that it is so difficult to draw yourself in your profile…they have hundreds of things you can change to make the person similar to you, but it is just so difficult to make the person looks natural and similar! All EA games have this kind of problem…

5 Stars wii cars game – great buy
my son (age 6) loves this game, it is easy for him to play on his own, well worth the price!

3 Stars No Really Pre-Schoolar Friendly
I bought this game for my 4 year old who is a ‘Cars’ fan. Though generally he enjoys it, I think it does not cater to pre-scholars who are not yet able to read. The controls for racing are too many e.g. press 1 for this , 2 for that, A for something else, B for another thing etc. The instructions are in the manual instead of on the screen, so everytime you forget how to do something you have to go back to the booklet. It would have been good if the instructions were on the screen and voiced, so that little kids could access them themselves instead of having to call Mom each time they need to perform a function they cannot remember. I give this product 3 stars instead of 2 stars just because my son still manages to play it.

1 Star Wii Cars
I was asked to review the product, but have never tested it. Sorry for poor rating.

The CD was not working. The Wii player is not able to read the disk. The game might be fun, and the reason for ordering it ! In the future I will buy games locally were it is easier to return it!

5 Stars Happy with the service provided
I’m very satisfied with the service provided along with fast shipping. I will certainly order again.

4 Stars Fun Game!
This game is a lot of fun. It has many different activities and it has good reaction to the wii remotes. The only thing I didn’t like is that some of the games you have to play to get to another level of play I couldn’t figure out and so I am kind of stuck in one area… I’m sure most kids can figure it our better than me.

Call of Duty World at War

March 18th, 2010

Call of Duty World at War

Building on the Call of Duty4: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War thrusts players into the ruthless and gritty chaos of WWII combat and challenges them to band together to survive the most harrowing and climactic battles in both the European and Pacific theaters. The title re-defines WWII games by offering an uncensored experience with unique enemies, jawdropping fire power like the flamethrower, and combat variety, including Kamikaze fighters, ambush attacks, Banzai charges and cunning tactics, as well as explosive on-screen action through all new cooperative gameplay.

Features:

  • Multiplayer – Call of Duty: World at War supports intense, online multiplayer action using the Call of Duty4: Modern Warfare engine. Bringing multiplayer to the Wii for the first time in the Call of Duty franchise, players will be able battle it out in a variety of game types, plus upgrade and customize characters by using perks and completing challenges.
  • Squadmate Mode – This single-screen cooperative mode lets players team up to play alongside friends and family. At any moment, a second Wii Remote can be activated, giving the second player their own aiming crosshair to provide cover and added firepower while fighting alongside their Squadmate.
  • Combat-Look – Call of Duty: World at War includes “Combat-Look” technology – as the player runs through the game’s diverse environments and topographies, the vertical line of sight discreetly adapts to keep players focused on the battlefield without having to radically adjust for uphill/downhill grade variations in the terrain. This system still allows complete freedom and mobility for targeting and results in a smoother and more playable Wii experience.
  • Wii Zapper Support – Call of Duty: World at War fully supports Nintendo’s Zapper controller through a customized game setting that allows the entire game, including multi-player, to be played with the Zapper. This customized setting adds a new way to play by incorporating unique gestures and button layouts that add to the Call of Duty experience.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars World at War = Awsomesauce!
NOTE: I AM REVIEWING A WII GAME, SO ALL OF MY RATINGS SHOULD BE READ IN THE CONTEXT OF A LOWER END CONSOLE.

Call of Duty is a solid title on almost all consoles, and World at War doesn’t disappoint. The graphics are, of course not as good as the Conduit, but they’re still pretty sweet for a Wii game.Call of Duty: World at War is a WW2 shooter with a two part campaign, the Marine Raiders and the Russian army. The Marine campaign is set in the pacific theater fighting the Japanese, and the Russian campaign is set in a urban area fighting Nazi Germany. The Marine part of the game is slightly cliched, and it plays a lot like most any other WW2 game(Call of Duty 3, Medal of Honor games etc.) , although it also has a lot of differences, like the jungle setting, the use of flamethrowers, and cool vehicle play, which makes it fun, if a little boring it times. The Russian campaign is set in the same old WW2 urban environment, but it’s still very interesting.

The online play is AWESOME(and addictive), with a huge variety of weapons, perks, and interesting maps. One thing the online mode lacks however, is different game modes, like Capture the Flag, War, and others. Also the Wii version is missing maps. you won’t see Roundhouse, Airfield and more, but you still have a decent nine selections.Kill streaks are good, as always, and friend codes are…interesting.

That’s it for the overview, here’s the ratings.

–Campaign:

-Gameplay: 8.0/10.0 Good, not great.

-Graphics: 8.0 Good for a Wii game…

-Framerate: 9.0 Very good.

-Sound Effects: 9.0 Very good.

-Weapons: 8.0 Pretty good.

-Controls: 8.0 Nice n’ smooth.

-A.I.s: 9.5 Great!

Overall: 8.5 Very good.

–Online:

-Gameplay: 9.5 Awesome!

-Weapons: 9.5 Awesome!

-Perks: 9.5: Awesome!

-Maps: 8.5 Very good.

-Kill Streaks: 9.0 Great!

Overall: 9.5 AWESOMESAUCE!

Total: 8.8

This is a great game for the wii, one of, if not the best first person shooters on the market.

4 Stars Intense, Exhilirating, Awesome
I’m not a regular gamer- didn’t growup with the joystick glued to my hand and I don’t claim to know much about the hundreds of other wargames on the market- but I found this game to be both challenging and intense. You can sit for hours playing this game and not even realize time has passed. The game is designed to challenge both your motor skills and your ability to react under pressure. You’ll face snipers that move as steatlh like as cats, tanks that will blow apart everything around you and flamethrowers that will burn you to a crisp- and you will enjoy it! The only irritating thing about this game is that no British soldiers were used- only American and Russian- thus overlooking a key part of the war against Nazi Germany. I sold my game after a few weeks as I realized that I was becoming too addicted to playing it.

5 Stars This is a non-biased review for a Wii FPS for a change..
The Wii may not have the horsepower of the PS3, but it does have have the motion sensing remote and numchuck, which in theory make controlling a FPS as good or better on the Wii as the FPS system of choice: the PC. Unfortunately, many Wii games are hard to control or have ridiculous Wii-waggle BS thrown in and don’t realise the little console’s potential. I’m here to tell you Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is not one of those hastily ported PS2 games with dumb Wii gimmicks thrown in.

The game controls beautifully with the numchuck in one hand and the wii remote in the other. I don’t have a zapper gun and I wouldn’t worry about it if you don’t either. The game is suitably difficult so that even an old school gamer like myself who has played plenty of Call of Duty’s and other FPS’s finds it challenging. The Presentation is good. You won’t mistake this for a PS3 game, but it doesn’t look like a PS2 port. The graphics are well done if not cutting edge.

You can find other details from the numerous reviews or do a search of Youtube for a video, but the bottomline is Call of Duty for the Wii is fun. Sure, if you have a fast pc, then you should play FPS’s on it, duh, but if you like to sit back on the couch when you do your 1940’s style fragging and the Wii is your console of choice I can whole heartily recommend Call of Duty World at War.

1 Star Not for Immature or faint hearted
This so called game is NOT for the immature, even if the gamer is 14 yrs and over. The depiction of violence and harm towards another human being is disparaging to say the least. To think that there are software writers that have such gross imaginations, it makes one wonder. This is a very bad..I can’t even call it a game….it’s just too, too violent and graphic. How sad. I spent $50.00 for nothing other than their profit. This product is disgusting! The description should read that eyes balls are poked out and put on fire! This would deter mothers and grandmothers from making purchases as a surprise. The joke was on me!

3 Stars Meh, decent from a technical POV, aesthetics are terrible though
I’ll start with the positives and then go into the areas of the game I did not like. The controls in this game are fantastic! Really well thought out and smooth. From a technical point of view, the game has a lot going for it. However, the aesthetics and feel of the game are completely disconnected from the thematic era taking place in WW2. For example, the intro movie when you start the game is done up with modern visual effects and techno music playing in the background. They throw in some WW2 pictures and somehow think that this will set the scene and get us in the mood, which it absolutely does not (for me anyway). You can’t have modern CGI and music mixed in with old school themes. It doesn’t work guys! It takes away from the immersive experience completely. The designers of this game need to sit down and watch some old WW2 films like PT109 or Tora Tora Tora to get some ideas on what is needed to help improve aesthetics.

In closing, because the feel and experience of playing games is so important to me I had to knock some points off my rating of it. Games should be an enjoyable, memorable experience. You should be able to completely immerse yourself in them, having a complete feel for what is going on and picturing yourself there with the guys in the trench fighting back in 1941. This game just doesn’t give me that feeling.
